    I've got this No.4 Mk. I* made at Long Branch in 1944.

    and this No.1 Mk. III made at Lithgow in 1914

    Wish I'd jumped on that bandwagon of No.5s sold at AIM Surplus earlier this year - still on the look out for one of those.

          Thanks - it's a BSA utility grade made on the Long Lee action and sold in November 1914 through the Army-Navy Cooperative Society shop in London.

            Go ahead and surrender to your desire; Enfields are great shooting rifles and a definite link to history.

            People don't like to be meddled with. We tell them what to do, what to think, don't run, don't walk. We're in their homes and in their heads and we haven't the right. We're meddlesome.

                I've got a #4 savage I think

                .303 is expensive and much of it is corrosive.
                My brother has the Jungle Carbine and it isn't all that sweet to shoot like the #4's

                My buddy has a flawless #4 Mk 2 Fazerkely that is the pick of the litter.

                      Yes! The Lee-Enfield is my favorite type of bolt-action:

                      MLE Mk1 - LSA, 1896;
                      SMLE MKIII - RSAF Enfield, 1913;
                      SMLE No.V - RSAF Enfield, 1924 (restored);

                      No4 Mk1 - Fazakerley, FTR'd 1948;
                      No4 Mk1* - Long Branch, 1950

                          My new Lee Classic Turret laughs at your warning. Just need to locate a couple hundred rounds of clean brass. After that, it's just projectiles, primers and powder and I have plenty of those ;-)

                            I'm sure I'm not alone in remembering 4T's complete in the arsenal box selling for a lot less than $100 in the 1960's. It was hard to come up with the money when you were 12 years old. I've got a MK4*1 and a MK5 now and have had MK3's. Still miss my chance at a sniper though.

                                I've got a naval enfield with the brass buttplate, shoots great and I lucked into a ton of ammo for it. On a side note anybody know if mk VII cordite surplus ammo is really that corrosive?
