Bluntly? Not really. He passed the hot potato to Congress, said what the antis in his camp wanted to hear, even said gang members were not usually shooting AKs but "cheap guns", and promptly moved along. He's got other things on his plate, and this is not one of them. So enough with this nonsense.

I think Maine and a few other states have electoral vote split, which is how it should be
Well then you might as well opt for the popular vote, because what you're suggesting doesn't make much of a difference.

Look, you can put whatever pro-Obama spin on his statement that you care to, but here's the thing...

First you implied that he hadn't said it...

and now, having been confronted with the quote, you admit that he said it, but claim that he really didn't mean it.

People can read his statement and judge for themselves the plain meaning of his words. Not really sure how you could possibly know what is on Obama's "plate."

You guys should really be worried about the fact that Democrats now have a super majority in California, which I believe will be more damaging to our right to own guns than anything the President will be able to get done.

That and the educated electroate that voted in Brown's "Education" tax. Now he has $6,000,000,000 in expected increased tax revenue to borrow against, so that he can spend it on "Education". Or pay back the money that has been held back from the Teacher's Union Pension Fund. What do you think is going to happen first? New textbooks sent to the classrooms or checks out to the union retirees, who funded his campaign and this initiative, by the way.

This is a narco thread, but I'll play. I think the new AWB will have weapons that are listed by name and then backed up by features. I would not be surprised if most, if not all semi-autos are on it. M1 carbines, M1 rifles, SKS, well, you get he picture.

                I really hope I'm wrong.

banning semi autos is unconstitutional... semi automatic rifles are protected under the reasoning of heller & mcdonald. I could see us losing hi capacity magazines, but that's about it.

Banning semi-autos is unconstitutional until Scalia, Kennedy (both of whom are 76), Thomas, Alito, or Roberts leave the Court.

Ofcourse we need more gun control, look at how well it worked in Connecticut.
I have no idea what will happen, but I'm sure something will. The Libs will not lose this chance to restrict our rights. Its part of their ingrained belief that crimes are never the perp's fault, they're poor victims of society, "Gun Culture", video games, etc.
                              Because milsurp.

That's extremely pessimistic. The Supreme Court doesn't work like that. First of all, Roberts is still young and is going to be with us for at least 20 more, probably 30 more years. As the Chief Justice he has the power to set the agenda of the court. Secondly, and related to this, the Supreme Court will observe precedence in our 2nd amendment cases. Now, we know they have gone back to overturn precedent that significant impacted the rights of Americans... ie Plessy V. Ferguson. But they are a busy group of people and are not eager to rehash old issues (gun rights relatively minor) that have already been decided. Roberts is not even willing to go back and overturn Roe v. Wade, what makes you think he will allow the court to hear cases to overturn the 2nd amendment??

Scalia and Kennedy will continue to serve the next four years. An 80 year old justice isn't such a big deal.

Yes... it's practically the only defining measure of an "assault weapon". Everything else is no different than a semi-automatic rifle. So they may try and ban certain manufacturers, etc...but in the end if we take judicial action against the ban we have a good case I think .
