Walther P1's are great pistols. I have an early one marked for Manurhin with the Berlin police markings on the frame as well as a Portuguese mark on the slide. Pistol is absolutely beautiful and very accurate.

Quick question, i bought a P1 unissued from Turners couple of days back, 3 digit serial on the slide matches the last 3 digits of the number on top of the trigger and also matches with the number on the rails when you pull the slide back.

Are there numbers any where else on the gun that have to match? i forgot to check the magazine.

They are "collectable" now as they are no longer in production. Just because they are available does not mean their not collectable.

Heck start collecting all the variations and one from each year of production. Add all the different issued holsters and you would be a busy fellow trying to get them all.

Remember when their gone their gone and prices will go up. These P-1 pistols are less common today than Nazi P-38's were after WWII and well into the 60's.

Plus there are other non WWII P-38 pistols available to add to any P-1 / P-38 collection.

They were on sale on AIM for $279 a few months ago. And yes, it came with a holster and 2 mags. Definitely has quite a bit of holster wear; at some point I'll probably get it re-blued.

I picked up one more P1 from Turners, its very good condition for $249.
Just a quick question, i remember seeing some pics on the internet with Walther P1 stamped with "Made in west germany" or West Germany on it. I dont see such marking on the ones i bought.

Any idea, which ones had these marking and which ones do not?

Those pistols marked "West Germany" or Made in West Germany were imported before the GCA of 1968.

Did P1s come in different slide finishes? Military issue ones. Because a 1978 used one looks like has smoother than finish than unissued 1980 one, that might have happened because of cleaning the slide.
