P1s are great and are good shooters. Easy to clean and take care of. Just be careful on what type of ammo you use.

I mean if your looking for a gold mine p-1...you could have a p-38 mixed with p-1 parts with some waffen amps...but that is hard to do.

The ones Turners had are unissued.

They actually had both unissued and "very good" condition P1s. I got one of the latter for about $270.

Check w/your local Turners, they still show several listed on their discontinued gun list at reasonable prices.

That's where I got mine.

The ones that are in the $350 price range look brand new. The ones in the $250 range (like the one I bought) look worn but shoot straight and function very well. I've had mine out twice now and it's a very good shooter.

Nazi eagle? And does all of the WWII have them?

well, generally post-1938 is the war eagle as opposed to the Weimar eagle.

Guys, How do i make sure that P1 has all the latest upgrades like beefier slide and hex bolt?

I am getting from Turners excellent condition one (heard that these are unissued ones), do these already have these upgrades? any one who bought their P1s from Turners please let me know.

The answer to that is kind of subjective.

Yes, it will be somewhat collectible, however the value will not be like a genuine WWII rig.

I'm in the same boat. I recently bought a P1, with the hex pin, as an affordable shooter. I picked mine up early in Jan (was able to have it shipped to my NC home, which saved lots of time/$$$).

I continue to troll gun shows here in NC for WWII P-38's that will be my collector piece. I feel I need to learn more before I make that plunge that will likely be $700 and up.

I got 3 from Turners when they first started the Calguns special at $259 I think it was for the issued ones, I picked through about 12 and not all of them had the hex pins. The hex pin is located above the trigger between the slide release pivot and the take down lever.

You're looking for the hexpin just above the trigger and the slide that has the serrations in front of the safety.

I've shot one from the mid-60s that looked quite nice, like it had barely been used. No hex pin, earlier slide. It didn't have the slightest problem. If you find a deal on one like that, you shouldn't pass it up IMHO. Occasional usage with standard commercial ammo should be fine from everything I've heard. Ideally though you get one with all the bells and whistles.

don't remember what year it started but its not relevant, because older ones were rearsenaled and got the upgrades. you would just have to physically look for the upgrades. Hex pin, thicker slide, can't remember the rest at the moment.
