Finally got my COE approved yesterday, 31 days after sending in the renewal application. Even got an email notification from DOJ at 1:00 am this morning.
Last year they sent me the notification 6 months after it was approved.
So there's been progress after all.

Seems I forgot to check the box that says it's a real ID...Funny that it took them months to tell me that. Anyway it is being processed now.

Folks give DOJ their 03FFL number? I thought that was underground regulation and is not required by any PC? Or did something change since last year?

          COE Expiring

Seems like most of the above problems arising from this post are updating their 03 FFL, along with the time DOJ takes to update their COE. You can alleviate part of this problem my logging in to your CFARS account and updating your user profile with your 03 number. The DOJ won't bother you, if you update this profile with a current, up to date 03 FFL.

            Just because

Just because it isn't in the regulation has not stopped them from asking for it...

My profile was updated with the FFL 03 number well before the COE needed to be renewed, but that did not stop them from requesting it separately and delaying the renewal until I responded.

I've had my FFL 003 and COE for 8 years now, and never have they asked me for my 03FFL number before, which is included in my updated CFARS profile. Last year and this year took over 3 weeks to get approved.

Same boat as well; renewed as soon as I could, got the email requesting FFL 03 via email, sent same day and I'm down to 17 days and it's still "in Progress".

I haven’t done a renewal yet, but I did just get mine issued as a new applicant. I fell into the cycle of “didn’t get it right the first time” as I refuse to provide them with my 03 FFL number (just my small form of protest).

I sat pending for 6 weeks with unreturned emails, until I called my assembly person’s office. Within 24 hours they called their legislative contact at the DOJ and my COE was issued.

So my advice is if you are still waiting and close to expiration reach out to representative.

Same here; if they added a drop down option to upload the FFL in same spot where we upload our DLs, I would add it.

Still got the email instructing me to send the copy via email back to them; I've emailed, left messages on their phone and no reply.

I "reported an issue" on the CFARS site today, hopefully I get a response before mine expires. I have 2 handguns inbound to my LGS, want to pick them up at the same time.

You can also put the FFL # in the comments block if you want to cover all the bases. The email to me had conflicting instructions; it said to respond by email but later it said it had to be in an updated application. As you said, I would have uploaded it as an image if the form had allowed it, but the only way I could find to add it to the application was by adding in the comments block.

A couple of years ago my COE renewal was rejected and in an email DOJ instructed me to also check Other (in addition to Collector) and put my FFL # in the associated comments field. I've doing it since, and no rejections since.

Finally got an email back from them today. Basically stated that they received the required information and that's why the current status is "in progress" and that it could take 4 - 8 weeks to complete.

The frustrating part about this statement is that they do not let you start the renewal process until you are 2 months away from expiring, they did not request a copy of the FFL until a week after I paid and uploaded my DL. Typical California BS!
