honestly i meant it a lot more tongue in cheek than it came across as, evidently, given the torrent of abuse.
i meant it sorta playfully, "punch in the shoulder" kinda way but evidently people are ....touchier... .than i remember. The US i grew up in, you could have friends whose politics didnt align with yours 100% and it was ok as long as you had interests in common, but that era is over evidently.

I appreciate this. After years of off the cuff Democrat abuse, Trump pushed back adequately, IMHO. Last summer’s riots being ignored over the Jan 6th thing etc, makes me more concerned.

my republican friends/relatives call liberals commie socialist america-hating bolshevik libtards all the live long day. Liberals hate america, want to see america and the constitution destroyed, etc etc. Even state legislatures refer to the lawful opposition as "enemies of the state" now.
given that is contemporary american political parlance, "trumptard" seemed sort of harmless.

when i was growing up, the difference between liberal and conservative was mostly how much to spend on defense vs how much to spend on welfare.
it wasn't hard to feel sorry for poor people and be socially "liberal".
