lets keep the trend going....Just mailed out my C&R app today...we'll see how long it takes. I previously had one from 2010 to 2013...hopefully this will speed up the process??

So I called the ATF today to inquire as to what was taking so long and I got surprisingly good service. The first person I spoke to said that my 03 was in "pending" status, and she couldn't figure out why since it had been so long. She put me through to the examiner who was assigned my application. I left a message and she called back an hour later saying she had approved it and it would go out Monday morning. Even though it was delayed, I'll give them an A for how hey handled it when contacted. Very polite and professional.

Mailed 03 FFL application and COE on 5/8/17

Received 03 FFL on 5/30/17

Received COE on 7/24/17

A little longer than i was expecting for the COE, but only like 5 days longer. Still seemed like it took forever.

So if one is to do this, you just need to submit the ATF E-Form 7(5310.12)/7CR(5310.16) to the ATF, and copy to your CLEO; have a Live Scan done on BCIA 801, then submit BOF 4008 to the DOJ in Sacramento?

Yup.

Redact your credit card information from the copy that goes to the CLEO.

Thanks for the confirmation, will put it all in the mail today. I actually found a similar letter and used it as a template. The PDF form you can download from ATF includes the CLEO copy (that automagically populates as you fill in the main copy), after the instructions and definitions, the CC info is not on that copy.

Upon googling, I can find the ATF's FFL application, here. It appears to be a single application for all FFL types, not just 03.

Is this the correct application?

Also, in the application it states, "A photograph and fingerprint card are not required if you are applying for a Type 03 Collector of Curios and Relics license only."

I keep hearing on these forums that one needs a livescan to get an 03 FFL. But on the form there is no indication that this is true, and it states that you don't even need to send a fingerprint card. Can anyone offer some clarification?

OK upon reading the CA DOJ BOF page on COE, I see that it is California that requires the live scan, not the feds.

faster then i expected! mailed application for C&R on the 12th of july....charged on the 18th....showed up in the mail yesterday!!! woohoo!!!
