    Kar98k help.

Hi everyone! I'm new to this board but I came across a German Mauser kar98k. A local shop has it here on consignment and I was looking at and it seems to be a complete mismatch rifle with an import mark on the bottom of the front barrel. I've attached some pictures bellow and I was just wondering what you guys think of this rifle and how much would be a fair offer for me to give.

Google 'russian capture k98 for sale' and see what they are going for.

I only saw two little pictures that didn't tell me much. Does it have any chickens left? If "yes" are they holding crosses or dents?

Tiny photos aside, it doesn't have the normal crappy Soviet reblue job, and it has capture screws. I doubt it is Russian Capture.

I should also mention that it has an odd sight hood.

Going to need more info here man, is the stock (wood) chopped at all? What receiver code is it? These all make a difference. More photos wouldnt hurt either.

I see the new pics now, BYF44 with sort of kreigsmodelish stock. Looks decent enough, these things have been climbing in price if you can get it for less than $450-500 OTD you did ok IMO.

So I just got off the phone with the guy at the shop and he's saying the lowest he can go is $479. Would this be a good deal? I'm just worried about getting burned on this deal because it is a mismatch, import marked, and has a weird sight hood and stock. What do you guys think?

Okay, I'd want more info on that front sight, but I might be tempted to pay $500. I'd "I'LL TAKE IT!" at $400.

He won't go any lower then 480, he's very firm on the price.

Do you have a K98 shaped hole in your safe? You'll hate us if you don't get it and don't find another one for less than $500.
