I'm pretty sure MasterChief refinished that stock. And it's quite a looker!

This late war MP44 - the lower one in the picture below - was literally beaten against a hard object to disable it.
We lost count after marking around forty impacts, on the receiver, the impacts actually bent the receiver and inner steel trunion, leaving multiple dents on the side of the receiver.
My guess is a GI held it by the end of the barrel and got some much need frustration out of his system.
That, or it was driven over by a tank.

According to the last owner, he played with it as a kid, all the internals were lost decades ago - it was then stood in a barn until at some point it was saw cut, and then thrown in a box of rat droppings and pig swill for another few decades.

In the year old pic (below), I had cleaned off the packed-on-grime (it did not smell good) and just started the early part of a restoration, that has taken over a year now. The rifle is currently CA compliant and 922r respectful, the restoration however is not complete - soon though.

Smith & Wesson .44 Double Action top break in .44 Russian (black powder cartridge). It was Smith & Wesson's first big-bore double action revolver. 53,590 mfg. from 1881-1913.

Not too beat up on this side

Pretty beat up on this side

        Revolvers are not pistols

pistol nouna handgun whose chamber is integral with the barrel
Calling a revolver a "pistol" is like calling a magazine a "clip", calling a shotgun a rifle, or a calling a man a woman.

          Grandpa's 1903
          Serial number dates to 1917....

Guide rod had been installed backwards during some cleaning many years ago, until last year, it had not been fired in my lifetime.
Replaced all of the springs and inspected. She's a snappy little cuss for a .32
Seriously... For this much mass, it kicks like a Glock.

That's a very nice looking piece.
            Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

It is one of two handguns in my home that are not loaded and chambered 24/7. This one, and the Heritage 22lr revolver.
There is a loaded mag next to it, but my wife knows that it is a "last resort" gun.

If we're down to this one, we've already exhausted at least 12 magazines of 9mm and .45.

Someone say beater? Here's my '45 m44. Bought it off a guy here on the forums, said he used it as his boar gun. Gotta love the splices on the front of that stock!
