I've seen a couple pics now with rifles that look like they have PEQ-2's on them. Are these just clones with visible spectrum lasers only? Because I thought that infrared spectrum laser were illegal for civilians to own, LE and military only.

It isn't illegal federally, the company just only sells to LE and military. I have seen them on Ebay a couple times. More than likely they are either just cheap flashlights and/or lasers in the box or the box is empty (could use it for storage though).

A few that you have seen are probably real, as a few people here do have them and aren't LEOs. I know that someone got theirs from a LEO that sold his to him.

Other than that, you'll just have to ask the people that have them posted up.

In all honesty, despite owning one and wanting to think highly of it...

Do you think it can take some real, good hard abuse? What is your impression of the mounting system? The way its an exposed ring? Do you feel it would ever come loose?

          Thanks!
Yes, I think it can take some good real hard abuse. It's got a locking antirotational nut at the bottom of the rail so that's pretty darn solid already. The exposed ring is just another extra locking system for even more solidity. Add a little locktite to the thread for even more security if you want and it'll be super bombproof. I've used a few rail systems in my experience...the VTAC handguard, the Noveske style Superior Weapon Systems rail, and now this. I'd say this is pretty darn solid.

Hey technique - I know you're not asking me for my opinion and it appears that my MI rail is slightly different than his, but for what it's worth, this MI rail is really solid. I have used this thing in my own version of 3-gun courses (that I setup around abandoned mining operations on BLM land) and have tripped and fallen all over the place carrying this thing - pushed it up against corners of buildings, propped it in window sills and I haven't had to adjust it or tighten it up once. In essence, this MI rail at least has taken some good hard abuse and has held up just fine.

This is the most common way civi's get them, and is how I got mine.

I'll ask for everyone, Jeffu is that a real PEQ2??

Look at AR15.com's M16A4 pic thread. There's some real beauties in there too.

                              My first

I bought it off of another CG member, and just got the lower out of jail earlier today.

It is an LRB lower with a Daniel Defense parts kit and unknown commercial 6 position stock. BCM upper receiver with BCM charging handle, Daniel Defense M4 barrel & auto BCG w/ Daniel Defense Omega X 12.0 FSP rail, and of course a BB.

I added the Magpul 10/20 mag, Troy rear sight & Blackhawk sling & front sling swivel. I plan to add a Magpul stock assembly with an H buffer, VFG, a single point sling and an Eotech once I get rid of some Russian made goodies.

I always said that my first AR would be KISS, but now that I have one I want to add all sorts of stuff to it.
