I wouldn't use one because if you ever got pulled over and they did a inspection of your firearms you may be thrown in the Pokey because the officer had little firearms knowledge.

It will just be for looks. As the fake suppressor a have to be solid now, they will offer nothing but looks and perhaps a heavier front end.

The O, they can state what they want all day for marketing purposes, but that won't offer any muzzle break qualities being solid. It won't vent gas like a real suppressor , Muzzle break, etc.

You can buy the ones that slip over your barrel, or extend OAL length.

Like the GSG-MP5 have 'shrouds' over their thin profile barrels that have suppressor look to them

If you get an aluminum one you can use it to lengthen a short barrel and it would be lighter than a 16" barrel.

It's your gun, so do what you want with it, and if you want one then go for it.

With that said, there's two concerns to know of -and the validity can be disputed.

                      1) It increases overall length without any actual gain for the weapon system.
                      2) It will attract attention at the range and especially if you got pulled over and they found/saw it. Some cops may not realize what it is and it may result in being detained on the curb in cuffs while their "gun guy" shows up to ID it, or if they don't like you they'll just arrest you and make you work it out later.

I don't think that should hold you back. If it's legal and you want to do it, then do it.

You can build a wicked 10.5" M4 with a pinned fake can. Too bad you'll be stuck with it forever and ever and ever and ever....

A little too tacticool for me but you get the picture.

Put a fake blower on your car hood too. Because you're gonna get tired of explaining to everyone why you have a fake silencer. The fake blower explanation will be a nice change of pace.
