    Magazine Issue

I have a friend who ordered 10rd Pmags for his new AR from an out of state company. They accidentally sent him the 40 round versions. He asked me my thoughts on what to do since this company basically just made him a fellon.

My thought was that he should disassemble them immediately and contact the company for a refund. Since I am by no means an expert I thought I would pose the issue to the community.

Or you can just pin it to 10 rounds.

We discussed permanently converting them to 10rd versions but that is not really what he wants.

He already contacted the company and they are saying that he should ship them back for a refund, but doesn't that pose another issue since shipping them back assembled would be a felony as well?

He should disassemble them and ship it back. If he has the receipt that says he ordered 10 rounders, it should prove he didnt import them which is a crime.

Thanks for the advice. We will see what the company says about sending back disassembled mags! Haha.

The company shipping the mags committed the crime, not his "friend". If he ordered & paid for 10 rounders, the buyer did nothing wrong.

I bought a bunch of 10 rnd Pmags from Joe Bob, good price and of course they work perfectly. Yes, now your friend is a felon until he takes them apart. I'd keep a couple (disassembled) and return the rest.
I'd agree with you but then we'd both be wrong...

The high-cap magazine law restricts the import, sale, and manufacture of large capacity magazines. It is not illegal to possess, find, or receive them. As the purchasing party, your friend did not become a felon. The company that shipped the magazines into CA committed the crime.

The magazines can be made legal by disassembling them and pinning them to 10 rounds. That's a lot of wasted magazines space though, I'd just disassemble them and ship them back to be exchanged.

Let's all say it together now as a group:

                      Possession is not a crime

Remove the floor plate and send it back to the seller as a parts kit.

Have the company send a return label, put them in a box, send them back. That way he isn't out anything and it gets straightened out. I'm a fan of "KISS" solutions.

Have him go to http://www.MAGAZINEBLOCKS.COM or it might be http://www.MAGAZINEBLOCK.com (can't bring it up at work). Make sure to get the correct one for his generation PMag.

It is possible they are already blocked and he just doen't know how to tell. Load rounds into it. If it stops at 10 then he has a legal magazine. It is a 10 round magazine in a 30 (not 40) round body.
