Anyone regret passing up an "entry level" rifle pre-shortage?

Before Sandy Hook it seemed like every LGS had a DelTon, DPMS or M&P sport for less than $800. Anyone regret not getting one when they were readily available because it was not a Daniel Defense, Knights Armament or some other "high end" AR? Or is it simply a case of you always want something more when you can't have it?

What I really regret is not buying a WASR 10 when Turner's had them last year for $499 simply because it was a Century Arms and not an Arsenal.

I was lucky. Late in 2011 I wanted another AR and after looking around, I built a PSA M4gery. The receiver was $49.95 (I bought two) on a Black Friday sale. The rest of the rifle kit was $430 and by the time I had it together I had $558 in it including tax, shipping and DROS.

So far I have been extremely happy with this rifle, it's been accurate and reliable.

Come to think about it, I may have been lucky another time as I bought a Zastava PAP (AK47) from a friend w/750 rounds of ammo for $500 a couple of months later.

I wished I had picked up a couple of SCARs, Noveskes, and LWRC before they cancelled their M6A3s

Yeah I wish I bought a few uppers when PSA had them in the $300 and less range on special sales.

Not missing the pre-frenzy AR prices at all since I have no interest in that platform and I already bought my Saiga back when they were $399.

I had a $600 Delton in my hand on Saturday after the school shooting and passed. Passed on one with optics for $800. Dumb ***.

Trust me sir, you made a good choice by walking away from Delton.

I was still debating whether to invest in an AR since I already have a Saiga, but a LGS had a DPMS on sale for $689. Not full-on regret but do kinda wish I got it then.

I regret not selling my M&P Sport for $1500 in January. I can occasionally find them now at around $900 at LGS
