I understand, but basically you posted, "Help, what do I do?" You got a bunch of opinions, from different sides, from builders, users, vendors (one of which is in the top volume sellers in the country), then you asked, "Help what do I do?"its not that im in a hurry its just I want to to learn off the feed back.this is why the made forums to seek answers that ppl like me are starting to get the hang of.but for the most part Im not saying for you too choose my rifle and parts for me I just want to read everyones opinion and the same ime do my research.thats why in the previous threads i posted to please not ot get annoyed by noobs like me,this is why im here.
How can we give you advice, on the same topic, again? It's now your job to sift through the opinions and decipher out what you want. Ask more questions, sure, but you should make them more pointed than, "What am best gun?" (Calguns joke)

I dont think they are blaming you for anything. They did give you a ton of info but I understand that being new to ar's all that info could be overwhelming. Also, no one has brought up what you will be using the rifle for. If its your first one and you just want it for simple range plinking and fun then the stag will make you happy. If you are going to want to get into 3 gun competition or some other serious use then you may find the stag to be lacking. Just give it time and soon everything will make sense.dude i been here what a week maybe a little more, im trying my best here to catch up on the rifle lingo. u just cant pick all this info in a week, thats why i ask questions.basically i just dont want to get F@#* like the last time.what more can i do or ask.and i appreciate everyones feed back but im stiill in that stage where im trying to figure out what models are what and who is who.u cant blame me

Also, the picture threads here and at arfcom are a great way to get ideas about what you like. Then, when you see something that catches your eye, ask for suggestions about whether it's appropriate.
Some BIG ideas to consider:
Carry/close shooting/lightweight/shorter barrel vs. distance/heavier/longer
barrel length?
barrel profile (light to heavy to bull barrel and many in-between)
barrel material (Stainless vs. chrome lined steel)
M4, rifle or varmint build
precision or combat rifle?
semi-auto or select fire? (jokes!)
iron sights, red-dot, ACOG or scope?
Carbine, reconnaissance, SPR, sniper, M16A4, service rifle, NRA hi-power, f-class.......
.223, 6.8, 6.5, 50Beo, 458SOCOM, 450Bushmaster
The ideas are endless....
You can play with the LaRue builder to get more ideas (some you can't do here, and many ideas are missing)

I don't work for any shop specifically. I'm an independent contractor and I've done builds for shops, LE, Fed personnel, MIL personnel and contractors. I don't do it for a living because there isn't enough money in it (high end doesn't mean high margin....as a matter of fact, I know my margins are lower than the dealers on here because I know what they're buying and selling their items for...I get dealer pricing lists too guys
)
I do this during my downtime and since I have a schedule that allows me to do this somewhat regularly, I do it and I do it because I'm INTO it. Not because I'm trying to retire on it. So I have no agenda, I have no brand that I need to protect or to be loyal to for that matter. I seek out quality items. If Stag and CMMG started turning out product that is as good as or better than Colt, Noveske, KAC, Vltor, LaRue, Troy, etc., then guess what I'll recommend? Stag and CMMG. Until then, I'll recommend what I know is better.
I also don't recommend ANY brand wholesale. As it is now, I would not buy a optic with a Colt label on it...I would avoid it like it was Leaper.
And Pirate is right, I'm sure I don't see as many Stags and I've said that before. Also as I have previous stated, for the average joe, Stag and CMMG is probably good enough. But if someone asks me my opinion, I'm going to give it. I would love to like CMMG as they offer a lot of barrel configurations that I like but I DON'T TRUST THEIR PRODUCT. If I HAD to use their products (or Stag's), I would but when I can get better quality items (Colt, Noveske, etc.), why should I lower my standards?
Now if I had to build a lefty upper (as I have before), of course I'm going to use Stag because there is no one else with lefty parts like Stag. If Blackthorne/Hesse/Vulcan made lefty also, guess what I would use? Stag....because I know my chances of getting a quality item is better with Stag then with B/H/V.
It's really that simple.
Sorry, but I don't have a fancy iPhone or Crackberry from which I can check these threads every second of the day. My phone plan only allows me to make phone calls (oh, and now text messaging!)
OK, so you're just an "average Joe" amateur, hobby builder.Frank

Here is an example of a guy who did some research and is at the next level. He will be able to build upon this platform one device at a time.

I've been building AR's since the early 90's and I've completed a couple Colt armorer's course. I also do get paid to build them but just don't do it full time. If you consider that a "average joe/amateur, hobby builder", then yes.Last edited by RECCE556; 03-26-2008, 1:44 PM.Comment

I need to place a pretty large order of AR-15s (STAG-2). Can anyone tell me why its out of stock on practically every web site I find? I've counted 8 sites and stores now that are out of stock on it with a 35week lead time.
Anyone know whats up?

I can't tell if this is a joke or it's actually serious. I might actually go to the office to see if there actually is a corporate counter terrorist office there.Comment
