I have the surefire 556 and the pws 556.

Both are very similar. I would say stick with pws since its cheaper. surefire performs a tad differently but not worth the price, but if you want lighten up the fron end, surefire is lighter than the pws.

      Hope this helps.

I have a few muzzle brakes on my ars.

        1. Addax FSC Bulldog (identical to the PWS version, but different prongs) Works fantastic with reducing muzzle rise and decent when it comes to flash suppression. Highly recommended.

        2. Smith Enterprise Muzzle Brake. Works well, around 50-60 dollars. Not as loud as other comps.

        3. SJC Titan works the best at reducing muzzle rise, but the loudest in comparison to all the other comps that I have used. Downside to this comp is that it is long and heavy compared to other comps.

+1 for the Surefire, I use one of theirs on my 7/08. I used the JP tank brake on my old 6/284... I swear to this day I could put the recoil pad on my nose and pull the trigger! That rifle had ZERO recoil.

Well, anybody could put the recoil pad to their nose and pull the trigger...

              Question is, whats the damage?

Shout out to Addax Tactical. Went down there this weekend to put my XTC on. Was in and out with the quickness and they only charged me a 10 spot for the install (got there right when they opened). Went to Angeles the next day to test it out. I thought it would be louder than the A2 and it wasn't that bad, I'm sure if I was standing to the side I would feel different. The brake kept me on target too with little to no muzzle movement. Cool thing was Angeles was practically empty when I got there, I guess folks didn't want to deal with the cold. I think all my winter season trips to Angeles will be early, just need a few layers that's all. : ) finally...my rifle is done...for now.

I was on the line next to a guy shooting an AR with a rainier brake this past week and even coming from a guy who shoots and shoots around Surefire brakes all the time, that thing is WAY louder and more concussive.
