    Eotech problem

So I just bought a brand new Eotech EXPS2-0 (Sep '12 production) and mounted it on my AR. First thing I notice, even before turning it on, is that it does not align on the same axis as my FSB. So I assume, I have a canted FSB... But then I flip up my Troy BUIS and notice that it too is not on the same axis. My Troy BUIS and FSB seem aligned perfectly together.

So this makes me think that there is a problem with the Eotech mount. I tried varying the tension nut per Eotech's mounting instructions, moving the Eotech to different rail slots, etc. to no avail. Just by eye-balling it, I can tell the Eotech is canted as it sits on the rail.

Although I doubt it will effect zeroing the rifle, it is really annoying and distracting to look at crooked sight picture. Any ideas how to fix this?

Got to be something under it.

I can throw my eotech and have it land straight on my rifle.
Is there a Rail cover under it?

Mount the Eotech backwards and see if it cants the other way. If not then it is a rail problem.

Is it mounted on the receiver or a handguard rail? I found through the same problem that my handguard rail isn't perfectly square

It does look slightly off. Have you tried zeroing it? Here's a picture of mine

Wait now mine looks a little off. Damn you OP for pointing that out!

You could also try taking apart the QD mechanism, or at least loosen it completely then rest the sight in the final position. Then tighten it up and try to figure out when it becomes slanted.

I'll bet something is not engaging properly, like the little claw that is pulled in when you shut the QD lever.

Also try putting the sight on a level surface, like a desk. Still look canted? If not, then it's probably not the QD base itself.

It's mounted on the receiver rail. Tried all sorts of different slots. Same thing.

Thanks for the idea. I mounted it backwards, and now it cants to the right. So it is not a rail problem.

If I rest it on the rail with the QD completely loose, it still has the canted sight picture. However, when I apply some pressure to cant it to the right, it goes right to a proper sight picture. But when I lock the QD, it forces it to go canted again.

Try it on another weapon. If it's still canted, get it replaced.
