    Ruger's new scout rifle

It is a bolt action .308 with a detachable ten round mag, 16.5 inch barrel, flash suppressor, iron sights (ghost ring and front post) and picatinny rail. Looks pretty cool.

Yeah, that price is going to stop me short. Unless I can sell my M77 Hawkeye in .30-06. I'm thinking that would be a great pig rifle.

I like it, looks like a fun gun. My only concern is the barrel, if it has the same accuracy of a mini-14, I'll passed. Im sure those proprietary Ruger mags arent cheap.

Price is slightly restrictive. I'm VERY disappointed at their choice in barrel length. I'm sure they did it for the sake of weight. Hopefully they add an 18" bbl, or optimally a 20" bbl that's threaded, but doesn't come with a muzzle device attached.

My only other complaint is the 10 round mag, but I'm sure they'll add a 5 rounder soon enough.

looks nice. I bet that price will come down $200 in a few months. I want to see a review at 600 yards

Ruger is pretty well known for its semi-auto rifles, but how are their bolt-actions?

Rifle looks good, wish it had a Savage-Palma type stock with the adjustable cheek piece.

My Ruger M77 Hawkeye performs well. I had a M77 MkII in .270 as well. I kick myself for selling that rifle. So I guess I'm a Ruger bolt action fan.
We'll see how it is reviewed after some time and hopefully the price will come down a bit.

I've had good experiences with their M77, and if this rifle was a little more affordable, and a little less ugly (that FH is fugly) I'd be interested.
The way some gunshop clerks spout off, you'd think that they invented gunpowder and the repeating rifle, and sat on the Supreme Court as well.

I think in addition to it being a new gun MSRP, the Gunsite stamp probably adds somewhat significantly to the cost.

If you like the concept, but hate the price - or some of the tacticool touches - do a search for a used/LNIB Ruger Frontier:

It was made up until recently, and can be found both in blue and in stainless.

I've got one, and the only thing I can see on this new gun that I'd like is the bottom metal for the detachable mags. I wish that Ruger had a better policy for selling parts than it currently does; I'd be interested in buying it for my gun.

Although, one guy did do an M14 mag conversion for his Frontier. I think he had vids on youtube and a web page somewhere...
