Here's mine that I went featureless so I could start doing three gun. For anyone who says you can't do mag changes with this grip is full of it. I do them all the time, without a sling attached. You can get more than a positive grip and hold the weight of the rifle by the hammerhead alone.

*I have since cut a chunk off of the back of the grip to ensure that my thumb could slide between it and the stock. And, the stock is pinned.

anyone have any issues with the magpul ASAP and hammerhead in type 3? the larger ring from the asap kind of rubs my hand a bit.

Fixed that for you...? Careful with removing material from the spine. You could destroy the CA-legal dimensions of the product. To be safe the product extends about 0.5 cm above the legal line. There's not much room for cutting.

As for the cutting, I took a notch out at about a 30 degree angle in the back just so I could get my thumb to slide through easily. The front 2/3 of the spine, which I use for gripping, is at it's original height. But, it looks like that is a no-go.

You can always order another one of course but the mod you've described should be OK. You can even cut off the entire threaded tail section and it'll still be legal.

Hey Mike,

Is that a left handed Redi-Mod? If, so how does it work? Do you need to have an ambi mag release or something?

Yup, left hand redi mag that was converted over by me, I do have a Norgon ambi mag release but the stock mag release is still very ease to access. I really love this AR as everything is easy to manipulate but its a freaking tank, i need to get a scale to weigh this fat bastard but im kinda afraid to know.





ETA You release the RM magazine with the button below the hole you see on the left hand side, this is an alder style RM and that button would normally be pushed by the stock mag release so that both mags dropped at the same time.

Do you think this might be considered a thumbhole stock? I can't fit my thumb through it. You have to have a really really small thumb for it to be a thumb hole stock, I guess.

I'd call that a ventilation hole.

Why not cut the exile machine down for your build ???

I cut one down, then used Krylon Fusion plastic paint...would be perfect for your setup.













Also curious as to why you have your front and rear DD sights mounted backwards ????

Got a picture with it on your rifle? I'm thinking about getting one of these, if I do I'll probably shave it down like yours.
