My experience is with lmt only and had their piston system on a mrp reciever. Excellent accuracy for a 16 inch chf barrel. I haven't heard of any recent qc issues but I've had nothing but good experiences with them. +1 lmt

LMT vs PWS vs POF

None are my first choice for an AR. I actually like DI ARs over Piston ARs. But the LMT would be my choice of the bunch if I were to pick one. I like the brand.Comment

I have an LMT MWS. Love it. Never a hiccup. Ever. Very high build quality.
Have a PWS MK214 Mod 0 i had to get a slash heavy buffer (anti-tilt) to get it running right. It’s nice too, but the LMT is just top tier in every way.
But once, cry once.Originally posted by johnthomas...The hardest part getting rid of crap is getting started.Comment

All the AR's I own are DI and only have one colt upper several MRP's and several SR-15's.
If I was to get a piston upper I'd definitely consider a PWS. As far as I remember they are one of the few manufactures that actually changed parts of the original AR to properly operate more correctly with a external piston.Comment

my POF P415 has been great. Good finish, very reliable.
I personal would go with the R20 tho since i like military rifles.Comment

If you don’t run high round count sessions or run suppressed, get a DI gun with a tuned gas port. I’d get a Triarc or criterion barrel and have the upper custom built.
Piston guns have their place, but it’s extra proprietary parts and more reciprocating mass for those who don’t need them.
That said, I voted Pws.?Seek the Lord while He may be found?Comment

Thank you to everyone who shared their opinion. I suspected that the poll results will look the way they are. I will stop by the LGS this weekend and will ask to see the LMT closer. Will see if it will speak to me while holding it. Unfortunately they don't have any PWS rifles nor uppers in stock. PWS has a ton of positive reviews online. I might end up getting a complete PWS upper - MK114 or MK116. Should I expect any issues with an Aero Precision lower?
I am not getting rid of my DI rifles and replacing them with piston operated. I might thin out the herd, though.Comment

LMT is pretty solid. Hard to beat

POF All The Way!
I own the P415 & P308 No complaints, love them!
and all my neighbor's ended up buying POF because how much they loved mine so that tells you something. (and yes on the scary accurate part)Comment

Does anyone have experience with them? How do they compare in terms of quality, recoil, maintenance and reliability? I am not familiar with any of these brands and started researching them fairly recently. Which one would you buy and why? I got tired of my DI AR15s and want to try something different. I already got CZ Bren 2 and I love it. I am planning to get a second rifle with a piston operating system and I will appreciate a little help. When I purchased my Bren 2 I also handled Scar 16s at my LGS but didn't do anything for me. This is why I am not including it.
LMT is a real fighting rifle, the rest are toys.NRA Lifetime Member
