Go with a 16" or 18" barreled upper for close and longer range then.

Don't type in CAPS! You'll look and sound like an idiot and no one will help you.

I would recommend you get a 16" upper with either mid-length or carbine gas system. If you go with 16" you can remove your muzzle-device easily should you decide to customize the upper later and you need to remove your front sight. There are other ways to do this but without a permanently attached flash-hider you keep your options open.

Go chrome-lined barrel with standard front sight and a rear flip sight. That is my recommendation - keep it simple as you can always add rails or optics later. This way you keep your initial purchase price down and don't end up buying a bunch of stuff you later regret. Once you learn more about the rifle and what you like, you can then customize it.

Eotech's are generally** not used for long distance shooting because the reticle is so big that it is intended more for fast target acquisition. some people do use the 1moa dot in the center for mid ranges though, and they do sell a magnifier as an option. you should really pick a specific use for the upper, and go from there. you can definitely build a general purpose rifle, but it wont excel in any one area.

you dont NEED the magnifier. technically you dont NEED a holographic sight either, it just depends on how you want to use your rifle.

Eotech + magnifier is not worth it IMO. It's too expensive for what it is and add's a decent amount of weight. I would rather put that money towards a nice 1-4 variable scope like an accupoint. Before any of that, you should really learn how to use your iron sights first.

Whatever fits your plans for the rifle. I'd rather have magnification if I was to use this rifle at the range a lot.
