You will never, in your life, have a chance like this again.
If I were you, I would not pass this up. I would not let this go by...this is rare.
Come on...what harm??

Thats nice. Where did you get this and is the scope mount the same as on Oswald's rifle?Formerly lugerdevil666

I bought it from another CG'r who spent a long time piecing it all together.
- The Carcano is from the same year/factory as Oswald's
- The mount is correct but doesn't have the 'Mauser 95' bolt relief on the back that you see on Oswald's rifle. Klein's Sporting Goods used the same mount on the Carcano and Mauser 95's, and they either installed the 'wrong' one, or just relived all of them that they had in stock
- The scope is correct (that's the original box in the first pic)
- I have an repro 'sling' made to copy the original as close as possible. Original Air Force M13 Air Crewman's holster slings go for crazy money now, fakes are rampant and hard to spot. I decided to go with a piece I knew was a copy so as to not get burned. You will never, in your life, have a chance like this again.

How accurate is it? And does the scope kind of off center from the bore?I bought it from another CG'r who spent a long time piecing it all together.

It's accurate enough to get head-sized hits at 60 meters
And yes, the scope sits left-of-center (not my pic, but same rifle/scope mount/scope):

I shot one many years ago and I was not impressed. The rifle I shot was a beater though. CBS did a test of different marksmen and I think on had consistent hits while the others managed to hit the target once.

The Hickey theory is retarded.
- During an active assassination attempt by a man trained by the military to shoot, firstly what are the odds that the fatal shots didn't come from Oswald (or an actual assassination if you believe it was a conspiracy)?
- An overwhelming amount of witnesses testified that the shots came from the TSBD. No one has claimed they witnessed Hickey discharge his weapon at the President's directions.
- Hickey’s car had two administration officials inside, and seven other Secret Service agents aboard, counting four on the running boards, while at least two Dallas motorcycle cops rode alongside. Behind them were more cars full of agents and officials. Yet not one came forward as a witness to Hickey shooting the President accidentally. That would be some conspiracy because it would be in the President's cabinet, the Secret Service, the Texas PD. Not to mention all the non-government people there. In total over 100 people in different state and federal government positions and people in no way associated with the government. And if it was an accident, how does a cover-up even happen? If it is on purpose than that is some major conspiracy. It just doesn't add up. Kennedy aide Dave Powers said, “Someone a foot away from me or two feet away from me couldn’t fire a gun without me hearing it. If it was an accident, it would make less sense. Wouldn't a trained agent or LE, react in anyway? Pushing, pulling the gun or acting physical toward the shooter. Or how about sometime between now and the last several decades come out and say anything?
- A gaping hole doesn't tell you much about trajectory. Unlike Hollywood, bullets don't always travel in straight lines after hitting things.
- Bullet fragments where found in the vehicle suggesting the bullet did break apart. Testing conducted afterward found the 6.5 Carcano did break apart when fired at human skulls with fake brain matter.
- The entire theory is based around a hypothetical trajectory and some conjecture on other things like the autopsy.
- Incompetence doesn't mean a conspiracy. The government is regularly incompetent.
- There is no evidence, period.Comment

What other weapon would it be? Why couldn't it be the Carcano?Would like to as people familiar of the bolt action rifles to weight in on the Italian Carcano rifle and the likely hood of it being the actual weapon used to shoot JFK. Serious discussion only and no trolling please. Would also like to hear would you would think in there was another weapon used and if so what kind?
The only person who is legitimately accused of the assassination, did in fact purchase and possess the weapon. He obviously brought it to work at the TSBD unless you believe he actually had vanishing curtain rods. Overwhelming majority of witnesses heard shots from the TSBD, some witnessed a man with a rifle in that window. Fired 6.5 Carcano casings were found at the nest next to the rifle.
The magic bullet that was recovered was a 6.5 Carcano. Various parts of the 6.5 Carcano bullet were found in the car including parts of the base and parts of the nose section.
Oswald's Carcano rifling matches test fired rounds to exhibit 399 (the magic bullet) and 567 (the largest piece of bullet recovered from the limo). The fired shell casings matched to the rifle.
Dave Gullow of Buffalo Arms (and others) have replicated the speed of the shots fired and the accuracy with the rifle. The rifle was capable of everything Oswald's was believed to have done.Comment

if someone would be so kind as to post the whole page from the advertisement from the sporting goods store that Lee Harvey Oswald mail ordered his rifle from you will clearly see for just a few dollars more he could have had a m1 Garand with a scope.
.
also it's a little known fact that was not covered in the Warren Report.
The 38 special that he shot the police officer was a Smith and Wesson that had been Lend / Leased to Britain shipped back and modified to shoot .38 special but not rebarreled to shoot a 38 special so basically the bullets being slightly undersized for the 38 cartridge that the British and used & would not have rifling as a normal pistol should have.
I believe the mail order a store called it the commando special and it occurs to me that that type of gun would be good if you were in some kind of secret agency and you didn't want but let's traced back to you...or at least plausible deniability.Comment

I will stick with the logic from the book Unintended Consequences"
On both that the Kennedy Family was the importer....
And
That other groups have set up the same scenario to see if they could make the shotRule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED
Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)
Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET
Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT

Are you familiar with his history other than the marines? He was unbelievably frugal/cheap. The rifle fit his needs. It was one of the cheapest, if not the cheapest, on the page of the ad for Kleins sporting goods.I found it interesting why Oswald selected a Carcano to assassinate the President.
He was a former US Marine and so a well trained rifleman. In those days there were certainly other rifles available to him and it would seem that he wouldn't have much familiarity to that old model.Originally posted by tony270It's easy to be a keyboard warrior, you would melt like wax in front of me, you wouldn't be able to move your lips.Originally posted by repubconservPrint it out and frame it for all I careOriginally posted by el chivoI don't need to think at all..XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOriginally posted by pjsigYou are talking to someone who already won this lame conversation, not a brick a wall.
