    CZ 527??

For some reason I find myself lusting for a CZ 527 with the full length Mannlicher style stock chambered for 223 Remington. Anyone play with one of these, and if so, what do you think? Thanks so much for any advice.

My experience with the 527 is centered around another variation, however the workmanship on all the examples I’ve seen is much better than most current domestic production rifles. If I found any .223 version, I’d buy it if reasonable.

Unfortunately, CZ has discontinued the whole 527 line!

Managed to get one chamber in .223 Rem. Was going for the 7.62x39 but some owners reported their wood stocks cracking after some use. Wanted the synthetic stock version but never saw one for sale.

If you can find one, get one! Their triggers are fantastic and the wood stocks are beautiful too. Love using peep sights one mine.

Before I bought my 527 Carbine in 7.62 short (X39) 14 or 15 years ago... I did a little checkin' online. Anyone that had ever owned one then sold it, regretted it. Anyone that had one in their possession and that used it, loved it.

That told me just about everything I needed to know to go ahead w/ the purchase. Chambered in .30 cal, it's a little hotrod. Bores are .310/.311 (haven't slugged it) and it likes .310 ammo. I have brass for it (Lapua!) but have never loaded for it, yet.

Got hooked on my .308 Ruger Gunsite Scout and then some .357, .41 and .44 lever actions. The CZ, though, is still a favorite and I still shoot it from time to time, knowing that I should have the time in the not too distant future to develop a couple of good loads for it: one for target and the other for hunting anything I'd use a .30-30 for, depending on the day.

I do regret being unable to purchase at another time an 18" Ruger M77 Mannlicher in .308... I was between jobs and just couldn't. I am consoled by having and shooting my GSR. What a neat rifle.

I have the American model of the 527 in .223. Being an older one, it has the slower twist so it will not stabilize anything over a 69 gr Sierra Matchking. Since it is primarily a walking varminter, I usually load 50 or 55 gr varmint bullets for it. My son did shoot his first javelina with it using a 55 gr Hornady Spire Point, the one with the cannelure. It worked perfectly.

Mine will shoot a half inch or under for 3 shots at 100 yards with my handloads. Having a light sporter barrel, groups will open up after 3 shots unless you let the barrel cool between them.

I don't have the 527 but I do have the .457, which is chambered for both .22LR and .17HMr.

I get nice tight 5/8" groups with Hornady NTX rounds in .17HMR at 100 yards. Better than the other rifles I own. It's very good for Beldings squirrels.

Had I know about them before buying some of my other rifles...

These are amazing rifles. Have two in 7.62x39 and they will do 1.5 to 2 moa with wolf

Love my 527, 76239 carbine. Moa or so with silver bears
Wish I bought 2 or more of the cz 527 and 550.
                        Shame they discontinued
All of them do something better than the 30-06, but none of them do everything as well.

I have the 527 in 223 and x39. Took my first deer with the x39. Great rifles, and great triggers. I couldn't recommend them more. Good luck with your search.

                              Great rifles.

                              Got me a 527 223, 455 22wmr, 457 FS 22LR, had a 550 rebarreled to 510 wells that was a stock wrecker.

                              Love CZ bolt rifles.

If you get a 527 FS I hope you keep it on irons only.
