Thank you for that info. Not being a current Marlin owner or enthusiast I was not aware of that. Not sure if the 1894CS in .357 I owned in the past had it or not. Aside from its other issues, I recall that I could never get it to shoot very well, with either factory or carefully assembled hand loads. Those were all using jacketed bullets though. Records show that I used WW296 for most.
It will all be academic now, with Marlin gone. Unless Ruger keeps it, the last ones have likely been made, unless there a few barrels sitting around somewhere. Transition guns can be a mixed bag, so we will have to wait & see.

      Per Glen Fryxell at http://www.lasc.us/fryxellstoryofmarlin.htm:

"Micro-Groove rifling was the standard of the Marlin line from the mid-1950s up through the mid-1990s. Along about 1997 or so, Micro-Groove rifling was dropped from the big-bore 336s and 1894s, and Marlin returned to 6-groove "Ballard" rifling for these guns. The .22 rimfire guns and .30-30 336s are still made with Micro-Groove rifling."

Been doing a little gun/safe cleaning for a couple days. I found my Marlin model 1894c (2018 I think) at the back of the safe. It's been a while since I've shot it.

The action on this gun is so much smoother than any of my other lever guns ( Rossi, Henry and Winchester ) I need to step up my Marlin game.

I sure hope Ruger makes them as good.

Yes, the Camp Carbines were Microgroove. The XL7s were too.

Camp carbines, while a nice idea, were pieces of ****. End of story.

I've never had one, so I can neither confirm or deny that.

Two Remington products I've been eyeing before the bankruptcy were brand new Remington Wingmaster and the V3 Tactical.

I have to be flexible and adjust my desire to: an Ithaca M37 and a Beretta 1301 Tactical. I don't have the patience anymore to wait for Remington.

Will Ruger take over the current Marlin manufacturing facilities (if the facilities are separate from Remington's) or will Ruger move all Marlin production to a new facility?

If Ruger uses existing Marlin production facilities, then would it just be a matter of hiring back the laid-off employees and firing up the production line?

I am hoping everyone quits buying those nasty Remington's long enough so I can buy 20 more action for $50 each.

As to microgroove barrels not shooting well do a web search for Bill Calfee 22 Rinfires and see what the current pricing is and how well they shoot world wide.

Marlin 1895 in 45/70 Govt has microgroove rifling. Not exactly a handgun round.

No. The sale was equipment and intellectual property. No real estate. Everything has to be moved somewhere else. North Carolina seems most likely, as that facility is at 60-75 % of capacity.

El Epaphroditus, my good man, there seems to be some variation on the theme.

                            For example, I have a 2007-made 1895GS with Ballard/6 lands and gro0ves...

And there are handguns chambered in 45/70 govt. It's a freaking clown world!

Having fired 45/70 govt in a T/C Contender 14" bbl I can say rifling type was not something I concerned myself about in those moments.

I guess we can chalk this up to diversity!?
