I like the sound of this. There are more Rugers and Marlins in my safe than everything else.

Ruger, I only own one and it is an LCP. It has been a good little gun. Marlin, I have only owned the Model 60 .22. It has also been a good .22 rifle for plinking and rabbits and varmints. I always wondered back in the 80s if Ruger would survive because the where so spread out in their product line, especially because they did pistols, and long guns. They seem to make a good product at a good/lower price point, and the value ,and customer service has been good with my LCP.

I'm surprised that you brought it home with those obvious defects (not the lead shaving but the finish and fit issues).

I would have refused it at the LGS and have them send it back for a replacement.

I can only speak of my 1977 39A and the receiver, bolt, lever and trigger are forged and hardened. A file wouldn't touch the lever and trigger when I tried to smooth the rough edges of both.

Guys ,,,this is all about the Marlin 1894,1895 and 39A rifles.

I have a call into my contact at Ruger to see if it is true. If he will talk about it at all, I can relay the real answer.

I can tell you that Ruger would not be buying this brand to manufacture guns that compete directly with their existing products. They are only interested in teh Leverguns.

Ruger doesn't make a Levergun. and if they got Marlins they would have the appropriate modifications that have been asked for for years right out of the gate. Proper Rifling Twist Rates on the Pistol Caliber 1894's and Chamfered Chambers so they will feed any type of boolit. These are simple things that would be integrated into the barrel making process.

They would also probably do investment casting for the Receivers of the 1894's, 95's and 39's as that has proven to be one of Rugers greatest assets, and I am completely sure they can do it Right.

Know this,,, IF this is true it is the best possible outcome for Marlin and really should have been this way from the start.

The 39A action works exactly the same way that a 336 or 1894 action works. The only part that is completely different is the Cartridge Lifter. Necessary to handle .22 Shorts, Longs and Long Rifles.
