If Biden/Harris win, lever action sales might surge...strategic investment for Ruger.

Wonder when the Marlin production line will start running?

          So do I.

I expect that Ruger will improve the Marlin designs and the manufactured, assembly-line quality of "Ruglins" also to improve.

I hope Ruger makes stainless, tube-fed .22s w/ synthetic stocks and a stainless version of the Model 795 w/ a better barrel-to-receiver fit than Marlin's splined barrel stub.

If I were in charge I'd change the tube affixed to the rifle from chromed steel to stainless and also change the removable brass tube to stainless.

And I would definitely keep Microgroove rifling.

              I've never had a Marlin.

I would keep the Microgroove rifling based on the accuracy attributed to it by
my friend and many .22 LR shooters including Calgunners .

AFAIK, only their .22 rifles use it.

It did occur to me that if it is superior for .22s why don't other manufacturers use it.

I had asked you for your thoughts on the matter of microgroove rifling because I know no one that does more than just tolerate it in their Marlin.

The design is used in many of their chamberings, and is roundly disliked by those who like to shoot cast "boolits".

                    Thanks for your post.

I should elaborate on my claim, and add that many percieve microgroove rifling to be more accurate with *jacketed* bullets.

Cast bullet (boolit) shooters dislike shooting microgroove-bore barrels because these barrels are typically slightly oversized, and cast bullets must be from .002 to .003" over nominal for caliber.

That said, there are advantages to microgroove rifling, the first of which is to manufacturing and because of certain aspects of what it would normally take to produce quality rifling and the fact that the microgroove rifling processes eliminated said aspects of manufacturing from the bottom line, we as consumers save money.

Microgroove barrels are considered to be more accurate, easier to clean and less costly to manufacture.

If you'd like to learn more about bullet casting and shooting, may I suggest you read and/or join the Cast Boolits web forum. If you're just going to shoot jacketed fare through your microgroove Marlin, then, have at it and enjoy.

I think it really boils down to economics for the end-user, having to track down specialty cast bullet molds or cast bullet makers to get the right size to fit the larger microgroove bore, creating more hassle and cost to achieve the same accuracy as a rifle with a standard bore, ballard rifling and easier to find/make bullets.

Actually most of their lever action rifles at some point were Microgroove. 30-30, 32 Special, 35 Remington, 444, and 45-70. At some point they went to Ballard rifling for the big bores, but 30-30 and 35 Rem are still Microgroove.
