absolutely not, the name of the cartridge is 45 Colt.
you might be incorrectly assuming 45 Colt is 45 ACP but those of us that know better, are not.
no one that knows the difference calls out 45 ACP and 45 Colt interchangeably.
and you must be joking if you think I don't know what the 'c' in acp means, I mean really?
the correct designation for the cartridge is 45 Colt, period. long is not only not required as a descriptor, it's flat out rejected as a caliber title by purist that know the correct caliber name. long is accepted to differentiate from 45 Schofield and ACP where necessary but certainly not required.
you're welcome to twist it anyway you like but the ad is wrong and the writer is describing two different calibers, and they know it.
you're also welcome to show us anything marked 45 Colt that will chamber 45 ACP ammunition or vice versa.I started out with nothing - and I still have most of itComment

anyone else get this email from gunbroker this morning?
subject: Item Description Updated
Correction: There is an error in the assessment section. This rifle is chambered in .45 ACP, NOT .45 Colt.
Information above was added on 10/21/2025 11:35:01 AM
and no it wasn't me that notified them. ironically they left the original caliber error in assessment section.

Gunbroker doesn't allow editing the item description, once it's been listed, for good reason.
Clarifications for errors get added as an update.Last edited by BOBGBA; 10-21-2025, 12:16 PM.God Bless America - My iTrader rating - https://www.calguns.net/forum/market...2-transactionsComment

thank you! hopefully prevents someone from unwittingly bidding thinking they can feed both. everyone starts somewhere, never know it may someone's first auction buy.
and I reckon they leave it in stone so any buyer/seller disputes over descriptions can be resolved quickly. shame tho they delete auctions after 90 days or whatever it is.
last time I had issue with LSB was barrel length on a model 10. I was looking for a specific year and barrel length and thought I had it, but nope. as an interested buyer I notified them and they made the correction.
and now that I think about it, the description didn't change, only the correction was added. I've bought quite a few guns from gunbroker auctions and seen lots of updates, usually adding something based on stuff I watch.
anyways, cheers Bob and good luck on that rifle if you're after it!I started out with nothing - and I still have most of itComment

well that explains a lot. and shame on me for not even opening either of their websites to see what happened, I just kept bidding on gunbroker as usual.
LSB and MtMcoy are separate entities.
I think some of the better ad-writers moved up to Wyoming when LSB opened it's Wyoming location.
MtMcoy is what's left of Simi LSB after LSB left.
One of the early LSB investors split-off from LSB and took over the Simi location and re-named to MtMcoy.
reason I thought they were the same is the Mt. McCoy (thank you for the correction) name seemed to pop up with an extremely high number of reviews.
so just now I looked at their review history, flipped the date search from newest to oldest and lo and behold, LSB is named there on the first page of 2010.

lock-stock-and-barrel handled this transaction very professionally. The rifle was excellent and exactly as described. Shipping was very quick and extremely well packed. I am very satisfied!
I also though they merged when I bought this from LSB and mailed the docs to Wyoming Outpost Auctions. I think I was confusing Ft. McCoy which is actually in Wisconsin, not Wyoming for Mt. McCoy. sux getting old.
gratuitous picture time - 1971 Winchester model 101 Pigeon Grade 12ga was my last purchase from LSB. and she is a lightly used beauty for the mere price of $1075!

Not all mistakes are malicious. I could very easily see someone typing up a description and writing Colt instead of ACP, especially when lever gun is on the mind.
I want it. I doubt I will be willing to pay what it goes for, but if it functions as well as one in 45 Colt does, I'd have a freaking blast with that thing. If it was threaded, I'd probably bid on it since my CA exodus isn't TOO awfully far away.Comment

yah, I might just be getting cynical as I get older. however they are building their business on this motto; Not all mistakes are malicious. I could very easily see someone typing up a description and writing Colt instead of ACP, especially when lever gun is on the mind.

Our auction house prides itself on delivering high-quality work, efficient operations, and exceptional accuracy, ensuring the best returns for our consignors. We understand the trust our consignors place in us and take our responsibilities with the utmost seriousness. The cornerstone of our process is providing accurate and realistic descriptions of firearms, highlighting their features, condition, rarity, and historical significance.
I tend to want to hold businesses to their claims but you are correct, they are human and possibly overwhelmed at times and similar things can run together.
I'll wish you good luck on the auction as well, hopefully one of you get it at a great price!I started out with nothing - and I still have most of itComment

Personally, I wouldn’t touch that thing with a 10’ pole. It started out as something likely that didn’t work well, so some gunsmith tried to make it better by Frankensteining it into some oddity. A .45ACP lever rifle, if it ran reliably, sounds like lots of fun. But IMO anyone would be much better served with a lever rifle in .45 Colt or .44 Remington Magnum.Marlin Model 1894 .45 ACP 17" Ranger Point Precision Lever Action Rifle
This looks very interesting, I've never seen a conversion in .45 ACP
It's available in Simi Valley at Mt. McCoy Auctions... https://www.gunbroker.com/item/1131741294

My 3gun shooting partner started LSB so I have been around LSB since before they even had an office other than my buddy's garage.

He used to bring me barreled actions every couple weeks to take apart so they could sell the barrels and actions separately because "parts" guns are worth more as pieces than complete.
I also have another good friend that did accessory and magazine listings for LSB that stayed in southern CA and now writes for MtMcoy so thats where my insight comes from on this.Randall Rausch

My last listings with my McCoy had some issues which I was able to get promptly corrected. Also pictures that round of listings weren't uploaded properly at the start of the listing, and that impacts previews even after the issue got fixed. I may have lost a small amount of money on some of the listings as a result. Or maybe not, not something that could be proved either way. They've also not accepted a firearm out of a misunderstanding of ca law.
On the other hand even after taking their cut they've consistently gotten me more money for my guns than selling them here on cg (I like weird stuff, the market on cg was always small for that). With less hassle. They're good to deal with, super convenient, and generally nice folks. If I decide to sell a couple guns I am on the fence about keeping I'll probably use them again for most of them. Nobody is perfect, but in total I've been more happy than unhappy with their services.Comment
