Avoid EGW, or at least the EGW screws!I've had a EGW aluminum base on my 700 since I got it in 2013. No problems with it at all.

They strip out very easily.
My recommendation is either TPS:
The whole kit: https://swfa.com/tps-mounting-kit-fo...rt-action.html
Just the steel base: https://swfa.com/tps-xp-tactical-1-piece-base-31.html
Or the aluminum base: https://swfa.com/tps-xp-tactical-1-piece-base-33.html
Or Nightforce:

The NF bases are pretty rad I agree. TPS is also a great base.Comment

I got it! I was just Copied & Pasted the description from the Brownells link into OpticsPlanet.
This is what I got: https://www.opticsplanet.com/nightfo...ece-bases.html
Would there be a difference between the "standard" one VS the "Remington 700" one?
That said, I would assume that for the rings, I would just get Vortex's ones if ever I go with the PST scopes?
Would having a bubble level in the scope be recommended?
Thanks in advanced!

I'm using the same set-up as your loaner and don't see it as limiting me too much. Granted, I'm also shooting at NRA LR targets which are pretty large, 44" for 800 thru 1,000yds. As to "too many clicks", 1/4 MOA vs .10 mils is still a fairly small difference in point of impact per click. 1/4 MOA vs approximately 1/3MOA (for the .10 mils).
Wind definitely comes into play over 800yds as you saw.Last edited by smoothy8500; 05-30-2018, 3:06 PM.Comment

I thought the trend is moving towards MILS, and if I were to buy a scope now, it should be MILS, no?
Btw, this is my cart now

Id say its most important to get what matches your reticle. A lot of MOA turrets are on a MIL reticle which renders the reticle virtually useless. Get either a mil/mil or an moa/moa. I find mil more simple myself.Comment

No, I was just saying I have a similar set-up as your loaner. The trend is mils, but moa is a finer adjustment. Either is good. A shooting partner uses the Vortex you're thinking about with mils, it's just that the NRA rings are in MOA, so it takes a little minor adjusting to the difference.Comment
