Theres a Bushnesll HDMR with Horus reticle on sale on this board for $800 or so riht now. Thats about 60% of what i paid for mine , although mine is a year newer and has a zero stop.

I do not know the seller.

I just shot a 600y match with it last week, and scored 177, 2x, 177, 2x, and 176 1x, my first ever match. Plenty of scope and it tr@cks very well.

Check the reticle out, its too busy for some, but i like it. It lets you either dial on correction or use the reticle for holdover.

A cheek riser is $40-60if you buy one, and $15 if you make one out of kydex, i did fir my 10/22. That rifle is almost $200 less than i paid, and i got a deal. Youll need rings for any rifle, a scope for any rifle, and a top notch rail is $100.

No matter which rifle you pick, its never going to be cheap.

Some guys shoot it bone stock to see what they want, i needed a riser, but some dont.

YMMV but I'm certain I will not need a cheek riser. the stock has plenty built in and I will buy scope/mount/rings that assure lowest possible scope height.

You can't go wrong with that deal. You seem to be a pretty active pistol competitor and had to start somewhere. Probably with a basic handgun and quickly figured what you needed, but more importantly, what you didn't need. Based on a lot of your postings, you focus on fundamentals and practice.

As Randall said, it doesn't require "upgrades" to start. Even if you figure out later "nah, precision rifle's not my thing", you can sell that Remington easily.

                Good afternoon Gentlemen -

Thank you much for your insights and guidance.

You guy are right - I have to start somewhere, and with a rifle like that, it's definitely a DEAL...!!!

I am off to a meeting in 3-minutes. Once I get back to my desk, I'll check if any of the local pawnshops can take delivery.

                Again, appreciate it much...

                Cheers,

Ask how much they charge for out of state transfer fees. Usually $75 and under.
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.
I really miss the good old Pomona Gun Shows.

For scopes, I went with SWFA Super Sniper. Funny with mounts and scope, I spent as much as the rifle cost.

This guy has some good info.

I've used Aces Pawn also when I worked in West Covina, good experiences every time.

I was recently in this position.

I decided on a 700 because it’s a very configurable platform that leaves plenty of room for upgrades and customization while being entry level priced.

I opted for the magpul variant in 6.5 creedmoor, the only downside is that it’s a 22” barrel

I put a Bushnell DMR2 on top and I feel pretty good about how the rifle and scope shoot so far. I am into this setup for right at $2000-$2100.

Just a quick update before I need to catch the train on the commute back...

Placed the order for the 700 and had it shipped to ACES.

                            Thanks for the referral...!!!

On the scopes, I would encourage you to check out the Vortex Viper PST series. I think they are the best bang for the buck. And stick with a basic reticle to start. The market is a bit reticle crazy right now, but if you learn on a basic scope then you can come to appreciate the more exotic offerings.

AA Optics often has great deals on factory refurbished stuff. I got a gen 1 Viper PST 6-24 FFP model for like $679. Scope looked brand new and carries a full Vortex warranty.

That Grabagun deal is down to $705.17 now. Wow!!

$25 for OoS transfer at Aces and you’re gold.
