    Stop being a dic!

You are guessing, only I call it "using judgment", and it's the case regardless of reticle!

Unless you have a rangefinder, wind meter, and a robot to process the information, and to pull the trigger at the precise moment, you are using your judgement!

Good long range shooters are that because the exercise good judgment.

Sorry you took it that way, but I'm not being a dick.

If you have a BDC reticle marked at 1, 4, and 7 MOA and you need to hold 2.5 MOA, sure it's an estimate of where 2.5 MOA is on the reticle. With a fully marked Christmas tree style reticle, I'm not guessing where 2.5 MOA is.

      That's all my point was.

Do you really hunt with a tri-pod?
        ^^too much for me too.

I only bring binoculars, a set of home made shooting sticks, and last year I added bushnell range finder.

I like the range finder! I hunt with iron sights and it's nice to be able to verify distance with the press of a button! Usually I'm using it to find out that I'm still too far and I need to get closer!

FYI I am talking long range pig hunting.. generally >500. I think if you look at the distances on the caps you'd get an idea.

Short range is another thing all together.

I would get closer because I'm stealthy ;-)

Kidding, I'm not very stealthy at all.

That's a different kind of hunting for sure. When I see an animal that far I evaluate the terrain between me and it and think, heck no, I'm not climbing down, up, and back, in this heat!

Because of how hot it gets here I carry minimal gear; light weight rifle, light weight binos, range finder, shooting sticks, knife, compass and water!

              If it were me

If it were myself I would choose the 6-25X50 power based on my personal factors. First off I have poor eyes and so shooting far distances past 100 yards isn't possible for me. My standard is 100 yards only anduse what ever cross haits that fits the rifle itself. I have a Remington 308 that uses cross hairs and a newly bought Savage 308 that I put on a scope with military dot. Both rifles are heavy barrels that I intend to just shoot no more than 100 yards.
