Scope For Bench Shooting
Only for those that understand it.
I responded after my trail run on my phone to your post. But just realized that I might have used too much jargon for most other than you..
For clarity, below.. Again, apologies if any of this sounds anything more than an attempt to be helpful ~ Boy, seems my messed up writing style is always forcing me to apologize.. (need that in my signature) maybe, I should've use more plane, long explanations.
PLRF = Pocket Laser Rangefinder, small and portable.. some non-civilian options are fairly large, Like LADAR(not mentioned) or large Binos
The V21 or V23 are Binos that are laser range finders, primarily used in Mil and Fed departments. The V23 upgrades the distance a bit from 12,000 meters on the V21 I've spent time behind, but more importantly, both will provide distance between targets. The best versions are not detectable with NV and cost about 30K http://www.safran-vectronix.com/prod...ctor-21-nite//
The 25C is a PLRF that has amazing performance for such a small package around 9k. I've used this model, and if you can get your hands on it, you'll love it, but then your probably a FFS guy and already using a Trimble (Field Firing solutions) http://www.safran-vectronix.com/product/plrf25c/
15C and the Terrapin also are great from the above company if you can secure one, I've also had both, just worth every penny.
CEP a common term in some circles, Circular Error of Probability, used to describe your chances of hitting something. A hit or 3 is just luck once the CEP is larger than your target..
Spotter 60 arguably the best field spotting scope with German Glass from Hensoldt and a nice reticle about $4500
Swaro is Swarovki Optic and the STR is amazing but HUGE.. also around the above price.. but not as field proven or compact as the Spotter 60 http://www.swarovskioptik.com/huntin...0-moa-p5174923
MK4 TMR 20-60 80 is a Leopold spotting scope that is way below the cool German glass but rugged.. Leupold is really, today 3rd tier (sorry) but about 1/2 price of the German stuff http://www.cabelas.com/product/LEUPO...E&gclsrc=aw.ds
Getzo and RRS are tripod companies. RRS (Really Right Stuff) support the precision shooting community with solid stable CF (Carbon Fiber) tripods and direct mounts.. RRS makes and excellent shooting platform when prone is not an option.
Geared Head - these are heavy 3 axis tripod heads used with heavy spotters so you can dial the head to precision index the spotter.
PBZ Point Blank Zero or MPBZ Maximum point blank zero references the distances or maximum, you can aim at the center of the vital zone and still hit that zone.
Indexing. Some people call it holding, were you can use the target or parts of the target in relation to the subtension of the scope. Holds are were you move the reticle off center in order to compensate for wind or bullet drop.
I think thats about all I referenced (jargon wise) that might be misunderstood. The Mil & Fed training references I made earlier, are easily looked up.
