Yes that's what I was trying to convey but apperantly doing a bad job of it.
We only repackage damaged goods not poorly wrapped packages that should not have been accepted in the first place.
The biggest problem is not usually the packages taken in over the counter but pre-paid packages were we don't see them until the carrier brings in the days collection.

That sucks! It looks pretty much like any "stick" looks after elevating one end and stomping on it.

Looking at the photo it wasn't packed in a way that would protect it from that type of damage. The padded case only protects it from scratches and it being loose in the box is just a poor packing.

Is the barrel still straight and can you tell if there is any damage to the scope and mount?

That's just terrible. Hope you get reimbursed for that.

The pic below shows the case being the same length as the box so it didn't have enough room to build up steam and blow the end of the box out, but it did. Like I said... Gorilla Power..
That packing job sucks. I have mailed a lot of long guns and I would not ever ship with all that extra space inside the box. The low rent 1970's rifle bag does not cut it as adequate cushioning. At a minimum the rifle should be in bubble wrap with the free space stuffed with newspaper or packing peanuts.

If that rifle in that packaging was leaned against a wall upright and fell over, that would be enough to break it.

I am glad you are getting reimbursed. They could have easily rejected that claim thanks to the lazy seller's pack job.

That's what I am thinkin'. The wood looks drier than a popcorn fart. It was a break waiting to happen.
At least you'll be spared being seen in public with that California/Weatherby style stock!

Just curious, is something like that even repairable? I actually have a rifle in similar condition that is currently going through the claims process with UPS.

So let me get this straight.. You're saying that gun stocks should contain moisture??

Yeah it's probably repairable, but that's not what's going to happen. On the repair..if I were going that direction.. I'd use 2-part epoxy resin. I've personally repaired a lot teak on boats and the repair is stronger than the surrounding area. Clean breaks are easy.. fractured breaks like the one pictured takes a little more 'technique' to get the halves to mate up, but it is do-able... Good luck on your claim.

Ok good to know. Thanks for your input. The only reason I ask is because replacement stocks for the rifle I got is not readily available here so I'll probably have to look into a repair at some point.

Probably had a crack in it before it was boxed.

That stock isn't broken -- Just drill some holes and slap a door hinge on there. It will make a nice folding stock mod.
