Savage is the easiest to rebarrel down the line. Tikka might have the smoothest bolt out of the bunch. Havn't ever shot a Ruger, but do you mean the American or a M77?

I have two bolt actions in .223. One is a standard barrel Howa and the other is a heavy barrel Remington 700 SPS. I love them both. With zero recoil and minimal ammo cost (even less if you decide to reload) you can shoot that rifle all day long.

I am looking for a bolt 223 as well... My only stipulation is I want a 1:8 twist to stabilize the heavy bullets. I don't even care if it feeds from a magazine.

I have a Ruger American in stainless.
I like it alot. I haven't spent a ton of time behind it though.....
So far at 100 it does a good job. Looking forward to playing at 200.....
