a scope bubble level has helped me fix canting a rifle.

I level the scope to the action, tighten the scope rings, then level the bubble to the scope and action.

OP: I have the 700LR in same caliber and I love it. I've had 400+ rounds on mine so far. Your post makes me want to go to the range and shoot it; it has been almost six months since the last time!

After an embarrassingly long time, I dusted this rifle off and will be heading to the range on Saturday. Life and work got in the way of shooting but now I will be able to go to the range more often.

First things first, I will level the scope and torque the scope caps. I added a Timney trigger. I have a few boxes of the HSM .30-06 with 208 A Maxs that I bought way back when I picked this rifle up. My plan is to shoot either the Hornady 208 ELD, 215 Hybrid or 208 LRH from Berger.

I have a new reloading press in the works, a pound of Re23 and 250 .30-06 cases from Starline.

I’m excited to see where this goes. I’ll try to update as often as I can.

I was wondering who was the necroposter that pulled a 6-year old thread from the past.

Good to see it wasn't totally forgotten. Have fun on Saturday and give us a report.

I considered a new thread but I figured just keep the info in one place.

            Might want to stock up:

Always looking for vintage Winchester and Marlin lever action rifles. Looking to sell? Know of one for sale? Drop me a line!

Range day was fun but not very successful. The benches were in rough shape and pretty unstable. The wind kept blowing my target over. It was a good reminder why I stopped going to Lytle Creek shooting range.

I got a rough zero while my target was still standing. Other people started shooting it because their target fell over and I gave up at that point. I spent the rest of the day shooting steel at 100 and 200 yards.

The 150 grain rounds hit the gongs pretty hard but the 208 A Maxs knocked them off the stand. The difference in energy was pretty impressive.

Got my new reloading press in. Hopefully I’ll get started on my own handloads before my next range trip.
