Nikons warranty is ok. They come through, just take little longer than vortex, or leupold/resfield.
All of them do something better than the 30-06, but none of them do everything as well.

Wrangler's Rule #2 in buying a scope: Always buy the highest quality you can afford. Scopes can live decades over many rifles and still be accurate. Wrangler has many decades old scopes that are obsolete but because he broke the bank when purchasing them, they still function as new.

Nice. What stock are you going to put the rifle in?

Yeah, it's not common for folks to shoot a 700 with iron sights. In my opinion, the rifle is really best set up with a scope.

But, there are economical iron sights for a 700...

Bushnell XRS you can find for around 1000.00 will get you past 1000 yards if you ever get into long range. There built like a tank also and have clear glass.

I would check out the Athlon scopes.

The "Cronus" model would be in your range and is supposed to be awesome.

I do not own one and I have never even seen one. Just going off what I have read. However, I would check them out if I were you.

                        Worth a look.

if I were to do it again, THIS would be the best entry route + reloading gear

I went AAC-SD + BC stock and still limited by the 20" barrel for longer desert shooting trips

For those who are still suggesting scopes, the OP already chose to go with the Nightforce on post# 30...
