I think you're overthinking the video. Not necessarily a bad thing but for the OP's sake (and my own), the KISS theory helps with clarifying.
In the video he clearly separates target shooting from hunting. The OP wanted a long range, low recoil caliber. My take away is the 7mm-08 Rem, 260 Rem or 243 Win.
I'm realizing...ask three expert marksman (or hunters) the same question and you'll get three different answers. Possibly because each person can't be totally objective when giving their opinion. Makes it difficult for a novice such as myself (and possibly the OP) to narrow down which caliber is best for a given purpose. What I particularly like about this video is he gives three answers based on what your need(s) is/are.
Now that I'm close to deciding which suits me for target shooting, it comes down to which rifle is best (let's save that for another thread).
