    Sorry

Sorry for this realization. However the women in AZ and Oregon are equally beautiful! I know, I've been there!

Man I can't wait to relocate outta this **** hole state. I love the weather and the women are beautiful here but I can't stand all this ridiculousness with firearms legislations. Firearms owners are almost treated like criminals here.

The CA compliant version has a manual safety which is a big deal. Especially if one is a lefty like myself.

^^ Agree. My only complaint is the mag disconnect. I'll be removing mine. Other than that, people whine about the LCI but it's actually not noticable unless you're looking for it. The safety is a non-issue. It's unobtrusive and hard to remember it's even there.

I honestly think if you put both a CA version and non CA version on the bench and shot 100 rnds through each of them, by the time you were done almost no one would pay extra for the off roster version. (assuming they were willing to remove the mag disconnect)

Just curious, but what happens if you modified a Shield (like an Apex Carry internals) before you qualified it and put it on your CCW license? Technically you aren't breaking any rules.

The county's advantage is that they can take it away from you without having to prove anything. Oh Commie-fornia

I don't think it matters as the PC states the gun has to be factory specs with no mods. So, I guess it's irrelevent when the mods were made.

that would seem to meet their rules but would they document that it had an Apex trigger on it or remember that down the road. I assume they would claim that they did not realize it was modified and would not have approved it.

do you have a PC cite for that?

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

i would but the concern that lefties have is that what happens if the safety gets knocked ON accidentily. the position of the safety is not easily accessed by a lefty when gripped. If the gun went click instead of bang, I would not be able to disengage the safety quickly.

So, I passed on a shield until S&W released the no-safety version.

if it is the county code, then that isn't Penal Code, that would be Municipal Code or City Code.
                      (c) The alteration of any previously approved weapon including

and the MC that you listed does not say that it must be factory with no mods, jsut says that it cant' be modded after it was approved.

based on that, if I took a stock Glock and had it approved for carry, and then sent it to TTI for a full custom work over, that would be alteration of a previously approved weapon and be no bueno.

but if I took that glock and had it modded beforehand and then took it to be approved, if they approved it, then it would be ok to carry it even though it is a modified. whether or not they would approve it is up to them, but the MC does not say that it is prohibited.

and I am finding that statement in various LEA policy guidelines, not even PC or MC.

in OCSD's policy that lists the abovoe, this is also included.
                        3. The applicant’s firearm(s) is/are subject to inspection at the discretion of the Sheriff
or designated Department Member. The Sheriff reserves the right to deny a license
for any firearm that has been altered from the manufacturer's specifications
reserves the right meaning they can allow for altered firearms if they wish,

still trying to see where the PC states that firearms must be factory stock to be able to be CCW'ed.

Orange County didn't check my guns. When I was issued my CCW, we were given a list of "do's and dont's". Internal mods was one of the "dont's."
I don't know what county you're in, but I'm not going to risk losing my CCW for some internal mods.

OP, take it from the OC license holders that have been through the interview, application process, training, and issuance..

at no point was it advised to deviate from the plain text of the policy.. don't read anything into it..

the license is somewhat difficult to get, long lead time, and fairly expensive.. why risk denial or revocation?

it's too easy to just follow their instructions.. this issue has been discussed ad nauseam in other threads..

and a couple of the regulars in those threads are also willing to help if you ask..

good luck and feel free to PM me if you have any questions
I started out with nothing - and I still have most of it

The CA Shield isn't that bad once you remove the mag disconnect safety. I handled one the other day and the LCI actually doesn't bother me nearly as much as I thought it would. Of course, if you ever run empty and your attacker knows anything about handguns, he's going to know you're out. But the LCI itself isn't as big and obtrusive in person as it appears in the pictures.

LOL! He's only 24 and is complaining about CA gun laws.

it's much worse for the older crowd that have lived through these changes and haven't given up and left.
