DANG howd you score the 290RS? Ive wanted one forever but was too stupid and cheap to buy one and prices for them are now insanely low.I just traded a BNIB px4 for a Sig 290rs(picked the Sig up yesterday)...I wish I could tell you how it shot but I never took it out of the safe except to trade it. My friend has one(that I sold to him, lol). In his words, he likes it but isn't in love with it. It does the job, is accurate(the rotating barrel seems to be key) but otherwise isn't very exciting(if that is a quality you care about).Unless we keep the barbarian virtues, gaining the civilized ones will be of little avail. I put an ad up here for a trade for a p238 and was offered the 290rs+4 mags(2/8rd 2/6rd)+2 holsters+150.00 so I took that after meeting at the range to run the 290.sigpic

I like my PX4 (on roster 9mm) so much that I bought a second... off roster through SSE in .45
(And Yes, I have 3 Glocks )Comment

I don't shoot it all that often due to the higher cost of ammo (the only other 45 I have is a G21). But they are darn near identical in size & empty weight. But I do very much like it - fits the holster for my 9mm. ;-)
I was on a one gun buying spree the latter half of last year - that is one of the ones on my "list"..... so I have only had it a few months. Like I said I like the 9mm so much - I had to have the off roster 45.

I suggest converting it to a G type (very easily done - see the sticky threads on the beretta forum). You could also get the low profile decocker levers if you are willing to order them from Italy.I have the px4 in .40, I wish I would have gotten the g17 the first go round. I have been trying to sell the px4 for pretty cheap for a while with no takers. That must say something. I am not a fan of the slide mounted safety since I have the F type, and the trigger leaves some to be desired. On the other hand the gun feels really good in the hand and is accurate. It is just not as consistent for me as the Glocks are. ymmv
For the trigger, you can switch to a Cougar D spring (or, a 1911 18lb hammer spring), which really helps.Comment

They are pretty close in size and weight but the PX4 slide is taller.I found I was much more accurate with a smaller gun (Glock 19 vs Springfield XD Sub-Compact). That being said, is the PX4 chunkier than the 92 Compact? I was looking at the 92 Compact as well but after the range today I believe I'm better with striker fired than hammer fired.
Also the PX4 safety was so stiff and sharp edged that I took it apart and massaged the edge and the detente.

Looking to shoot the Sigs on Sunday. Let's hope it shoots as good as it feels. So far the Sig P226 and the SP2022 have the best ergos I've handled so far.Extendo clipazinesComment

I have a full size PX4 in 40SW, it's a great gun and I've probably put 4,000 rounds through it without any issues.I'd agree with you but then we'd both be wrong...

I own both my px4 is chambered in 40. I haven't had a chance to shoot my glock But the glock does feel better in my hand than the beretta. The beretta is a smooth shooter even chambered in 40. See if you can find a store that has both in stock & compare them side by side & how they feel in your hand. In my opinion you can't go wrong with either one.Comment

Unfortunately the LGS doesn't have any Berettas for rental nor sale. Could you tell speaking technically if the grip on the PX4 is smaller from front strap to back strap? That's the problem j have with the Glock 19 Gen 3. Too chunky.I own both my px4 is chambered in 40. I owned a Beretta FS PX4 Storm in a 9 mm and sold it after shooting 50 rounds through it. The rotating barrel was my draw because they allege it reduces recoil which I wanted for my daughter. The truth is I was disappointed because it is bulky, top heavy and the recoil is about the same as a Glock or M&P. Accuracy was OK.
Get a Glock 19. I have a big hand and like the Glock 17 more although I have a 19 too. All gen 3.
My first non-revolver gun was the previously mentioned 17. I also acquired both a Glock 22 in gen 3 and gen 4.
Honestly, the difference between the my gen 3 and gen 4 Glock 22 is minimal. It certainly is not worth the extra $300. plus you will pay for a gen 4. The grip is a little smaller and I don't even use the supplied backstraps.
Buy the Glock 19, you won't regret it. It will also be easier to resell than a Beretta if you do not like it. Good Luck!Comment

I can do some comparison when I get home the beretta has interchangeable back straps & my glock is the gen4 model sorry I didn't realize you said no gen4 but the difference between the 3 & 4 is minimalComment
