    Beretta PX4 Storm. Thoughts?

Hey all so I'm looking to get a PX4 full size for my first handgun. I've been reading reviews and watching videos on it and it seems pretty clear cut with the shooters. Either they love it, or swap it for a Glock 19. So owners of both, what are your opinions? I would love to own a Glock 19 but unfortunately no Gen 4s

The problem with the Storm is that it has a DA/SA trigger, and they're just not as popular as a striker fired gun like a Glock, XD, VP9, P320, M&P, etc. Many people shoot a striker fired gun better. They also goofily place the controls on the slide, which isn't very intuitive and can get accidentally kicked on/off if over hand racking the slide, or locking the slide back for a malfunction clearance.

Another problem with the storm is a lack of support from the secondary market. Holsters, sights, etc.

If I were you, I'd just get a Glock 19 as your first gun; it's a great first gun. I bought 20 or more handguns, and I shoot my Glock 9mms the most.
I love the ergos of the Gen 4. I would love to get me a striker fired. My top three choices for my first handgun were all striker fired but they're all off roster . From what I've read, the PX4 trigger is really smooth with a long take up and a clean break. I'm going to my local range and shop today and hopefully they have it for rental if not hopefully they'll let me play with one of their for sale models. I just don't understand why Cali would let the Gen3 and older but drop the Gen4. Makes no sense.

I would recommend the glock 19 over the px4. Ive handed one (never shot one) and the friend that owned it sold it off.... Gen 3 glocks are outstanding. Gen 4 only have a few improvements. I have a gen 3 19 and a gen 4 17. I actually prefer the feel of my gen 3 19 and I'm just as accurate with it. The gen 3 glock is extremely hard to make better IMO. You'll be just fine with one

I don't mind a long take up as long as the reset isn't just as long. I do want a Glock and it'll be nice to have in case I make it into the Law Enforcement career Won't have to deal with an accepted firearm then. I also really wanted the Glock 19 with the OD lower. God I love the two toned Glocks. I wish the FDE was a little lighter. It's too dark for my taste.

I've had several Glock 19's, liked em but didn't love them. Always shot them well, last one I modded with a grip force beavertail, ghost trigger and 10-8 nights sights. Liked the best of all the glock 19's I had, still didn't love it. Traded it for an M&P 40, grips felt great, fixed the gritty trigger, thought I would love it but never could shoot it as good as my PX4 40cal. Traded for a PX4 9mm, super soft shooting, great grip, smooth D/A crisp S/A, never looked back. Love it! Moral is shoot them both, glocks are very good but just not for everyone.

I love the feel of the Glock but I like having the options of changing up the grips like the Gen4. I realize I can't do as much with the PX4 but at least I can change the backstrap. More than I can say for the Gen3 Glock. I was looking at the Grip Force Beavertails and that seems a little better.

IMHO, get what fits your hands better. Triggers are much ado about nothing when it comes to self defense guns. I'm just as fast and accurate at self defense distances with a DA revolver vs striker fired gun. If competing, the trigger does make a big difference.

What's the reset like on either trigger? I can't stand a long trigger reset but I can see why it wouldn't really matter in a self defense point. Just gotta get the lead out in that case.

Issued a g23 for 25 years with the OCSD. Retired and bought a px4, happy now. To each his own.

I just traded a BNIB px4 for a Sig 290rs(picked the Sig up yesterday)...I wish I could tell you how it shot but I never took it out of the safe except to trade it. My friend has one(that I sold to him, lol). In his words, he likes it but isn't in love with it. It does the job, is accurate(the rotating barrel seems to be key) but otherwise isn't very exciting(if that is a quality you care about).

had a PX4, sold it a few years ago... didn't like the ergos of that gun and hated the safety... the rotating barrel concept is what intrigued me - but I didn't find that it reduced recoil to an extent worth considering... the trigger was great though.

I never jumped on the Glock bandwagon - so of the 12 handguns I've owned - I can't comment on that one.

I have the full size storm. I like it, it shoots good and feels good in my hands. I couldn't offer an opinion on the Glock since they do neither for me.

BUT. If you really want the Glock then why bother getting the Storm? Get the gun you really want, not one that you'll make do with. Just my 2 cents.
It was not a threat. It was an exaggerated response to an uncompromising stance. I was taught never to make a threat unless you are prepared to carry it out and I am not a fan of carrying anything. Even watching other people carrying things makes me uncomfortable. Mainly because of the possibility they may ask me to help.

I find the rotating barrel really interesting. I know Beretta isn't the first to do it, but if it's as efficient as they claim, why aren't more companies using it? I personally love the way it looks on the PX4, but for me, it's all about function over form. Unless ergos are part of form.

I'm interested in the Storm and I want the Gen4 G19 but can't get that obviously without doing a PPT. Markup on it from what I've seen is ridiculous. Not worth that extra money in my opinion seeing that it's close to a Sig P226 so that's why I was looking at cheaper options like the PX4 or the 92 Compact.
