I bought my g19 in 2006. I have since used it in 3 gun for a few years, Taught CCW classes with it ( where I often loaned it to students ), Taken 2-3 pistol courses myself, as well as used it as a carry gun ever since the day I bought it.

Its beat up, its ugly, but I really can't remember it ever malfunctioning at any point. I figure Im somewhere between 13k-15k down the pipe.

I trust my life to my Glock.

    Just my two cents..

I've had a few; they have all been pretty good. That is except for the one G21 I had that broke off part of the frame.

Freak occurrence, and Glock did make it right and sent a brand new pistol( I believe the one I had bought was a previous tangle rental!)

I also have complete faith in my Gen2 G19; it has always gone bang in the 4-5k rds I've shot it.

Mind you, with all of this said, I'm still a die hard 1911 type; but I at least can openly admit the strengths of weakness of any platform...

Lately? I've been seeing tons of reports of Glock reliability issues for close to 10 years.

They are all good guns that work well as designed, when changes are made, it's not always for the better. The worse thing to ever happen to a Glock was the 10 round mag. I will rarely accept a Glock failure with a 10 round mag as a Glock issue, it is almost always a mag issue not a gun issue.
I totally agree, especially with the 10 round mag situation. I also find that neutured 10 round mag issues plague other platforms as well.

Since you asked, the G40 & the G4x Single Stack 9 that I'm hoping Glock finally gets their head out of their a** and releases at SHOT this year. I have a GEN 4 G21, but the only other 45's I'm interested in are the HK45 & a few 1911's.

Meh, sounds like you have plenty of time to pick up CZ's in the interim.

Hahaha, stranger things have happened. That or I could double up on 17's & 19's. I'll probably end up being patient & waiting it out, I have more than enough guns to keep me occupied in the meantime.

Buy the gun that you shoot the best and is the size that you will carry.

Put enough rounds through it that you trust it. Use the ammo you will carry.

Don't worry about the brands reputation, it's irrelevant. You're focus is on the reputation of the specific firearm you will be carrying, and only that particular, individual gun. That's the one you will be trusting.

Based on what you've said, get the glock - and then prove to yourself it's reliable.

OP, the G19 is a great weapon.
Okay, don't know if it's a gen 1 or 2. Sorry, All I can tell you is that I bought it as soon as it became available. I It does not have finger grooves and had black internal metals parts. I had to send it back along with my G17 for some sort of upgrades. Not too sure what they did, but it was a very long time ago. I bought the G17 in 1987. Not too long after that, I bought the G19.

Thanks for pointing that out and I do apologize if I was wrong about the generation.

                      Oh yeah, I am old.

Don't even bother, people here take the internet seriously. They have reputations to uphold. You can repeat all you want, they will just pick a quote of yours and proceed to troll.

I think both options Glock 19 and CZ are great. Obviously the 19 is better for concealment. I would trust the reputation of its reliability than some random issues here and there.

Seeing as how you'll be in Utah, you won't be using idiotic 10 round mags, which I believe is the main reason behind the hp feeding problems. I don't think you could go wrong with the G19. Have fun in a free state, I'm jealous!

My concern is that at least lately its seems like there are a lot more threads with Glock reliability issues. I didn't see these issue in the past. I realize that there could be a lot of reason for this.

I think a Glock 19 would be perfect for CCW for someone with my size. Let me know what you guys think.

I did have a weird thing with my new Glock 34 Gen4 today that was completely unexpected. I've had about 600 rounds through it with no problems at all. Today my friend wanted to try it and she had FTEs nearly every round. Struggled through 2 mags with probably 15 FTEs. Now, I was shooting 115gr reloads I bought at the range because I haven't had time to reload any lately. But again, I didn't have any problems with them and I went through about 300 rnds today.

But the odd part is that she shoots great with her Glock 27, 23, 42, Colt Mustang, my Glock 19 and 26, and today she was shooting her new Desert Eagle 1911 so it's not a case that she doesn't know what she's doing. But with the light loads in my G34, it was a big fail. We tried some grip adjustments and she was finally able to get through most a mag without FTEs.

I have no doubt that if I had my normal 124gr medium power loads that she would not have any problem and we're going to test that next week.

But now, I'm convinced that a lot of people complaining about Glock FTEs are for the same reason .. too wimpy rounds in a new gun with maybe a less that ideal grip. I know that in several threads here complaining about it people were shooting the cheapest 115gr rounds they could find.

So, yes, are some issues with Glock FTEs but they're ammo/user induced, IMHO.

When my life depends on it, I certainly never chose glock.
