    SSE Recommendations in .45?

Looking for recommendations - can do two more SSEs this year and seriously thinking about .45.

Currently don't own anything of this caliber but want to change that. Purpose - mostly use range gun and I guess I'll throw home defense in their too, don't know if it will ever be CCWd, but I'd be interested in recommendations for this as well should we manage to get it where I'm living.

Thanks all! Look forward to your recommendations.

In the same boat, so tagged. Was even thinking 1911 for under 1500 but has to be SSE model. Also prefer no polymer guns cause that's all I have now.

Gen 4 Glock 21. Your intended use isn't particularly specific, so that's a general purpose recommendation. Easy to shoot a bunch of ammo at the range and very much at home in a HD environment. If it was for CCW, I'd recommend a Glock 30s, but that gun isn't nearly as funs to shoot as the full size.

I wouldn't recommend a 1911 as your only .45. As a rule, 1911's have very sweet triggers that make you a better shot than you really are (ie: the trigger and weight of the gun are more forgiving to bad grip and trigger technique). I've seen some guys that only shoot 1911's shoot piss-poor with other guns. I have not seen guys that are crack shots with a Glock dog out on a 1911.

I just bought a CZ 97b two weeks ago. It's my first .45 and I'm diggin it. Had it out twice and it's very accurate and a nice shooter. Almost went with a Springfield Loaded 1911 but really liked the CZ and figured the Loaded 1911 is on roster until the end of February.

                        This doesn't make sense.

                            Dan Wesson Guardian.
1911 style, aluminum frame (lightweight for carry), rounded butt for better concealment, night sights, Dan Wesson smooth. Can be had for about $1500 + tax + DROS + SSE. But you'll never sell it. (And is a subsidiary of CZ, so that crowd can be happy ).

GLOCKS: IMHO the 41 is worth the SSE, but it's still a GLOCK -- The long slide and balance is excellent, but would be a chore for CCW. (Full disclosure: Personally, I burned SSEs on G41, G42 and G17 Gen 3 long slide).

GLOCK 21SF (Gen 3) will still be available next year, so pass on G21 (I have the G21SF Gen 3 and really like it, but it is big.)

GLOCK 30S is nice, but not significantly better than G30SF (slightly thinner slide). G30SF Gen 3 will continue to be available.

Sig Nightmare Carry. 1911 style, looks and feels really good. Have to deal with Sig and potential warranty issues in SSE guns. But it still looks and feels good. ($1,200 + fees).

Springfield Armory Range Officer. 1911, good pricing, SA service. But next year, you can still get a SA TRP for a decent price (of course, with the DW, you won't want one.)

Colt National Match. It's a Colt. Good pricing. Iconic. It's a Colt. Two springs: one for lower-pressure wad cutters; one for higher-powered round ball/hollowpoint. Another disclaimer: un-jailed mine yesterday.

Just my opinions, and yes, I know, )
