I think the point of a promotion like this is to encourage people to buy their guns, not give bonuses to people who have already bought guns. If they start sending out free stuff to existing customers then as an owner of 3 Springfield pistols and a rifle I'd expect free stuff as well.

Instead of sending free stuff to existing customers like me and the OP, I think the point of the promo is to get people like us to buy another pistol. It's a great promo, and if it wasn't for that stupid 1-in-30 rule, I'd love to pick up a TRP, but I'm not going to go about whining about why I'm not getting free swag for the stuff I already own.

I don't fault you for trying; but being bothered enough about it to make a thread, I find funny and saddening at the same time.
Bam! Or does SA call you saying the price is now higher but they only missed your purchase by a week? I hope OP is just young & still developing. But wait, SA hasn't evened denied the request when thread was started!?

Personally I wouldn't try even if I knew exceptions are made. Not like 11 days is close. You will luck out in other opportunities.

Keep in mind sometimes companies fire customers. Causing trouble increases their costs and eventually prices for everyone else.

What if they return the item and buy it again to get the promo? Another nightmare.
If a small business, then charge a restocking fee.

and if it wasn't for that stupid 1-in-30 rule, I'd love to pick up a TRP,
Send a friend and then PPT?

You're in luck, I think the promo is running til October. Unless you're trying to max out your SSEs

Obviously. The point of ANY sale is to encourage people who would not otherwise buy your product, to buy your product. No one is putting stuff on sale just because they think you should pay less. I don't think anyone is challenging this notion.

I thought the following was fairly common knowledge but maybe I'm taking for granted that I worked in retail and sales for a short time as a teenager. There's a concept called price protection or price adjustment. It's used by many retailers because it's effective at accomplishing many things:

          1) It combats buyers remorse. You see the OP, sitting there with his gun, watching as people AFTER him, purchase the same gun and get more value. He possibly hasn't even fired it yet. It also prevents returns where applicable (not here obviously).

          2) It encourages purchasing. People hesitant on making a purchase, because it might go on sale, are assured that they'll get the lower price if it goes on sale within a set time. It's a way to overcome a very common objection in sales.

          3) It discourages people from ONLY purchasing during sales. For example, now that I know that Springfield has this same promotion every year, you can bet that any future purchase will be held off until the next promotion. Price adjustment encourages people to spend throughout the year, instead of hoarding their sales for specific times/sales.

          4) It builds customer loyalty. It's an easy opportunity to make the customer happy and come out looking like the hero. How hard would it be to start the promotion two weeks later and then honor it to any customer who inquires, who'd purchased a gun two weeks prior? Then, you don't have to pay to please customers who don't care and for the ones that do, you've just gained a free opportunity to make a positive impression on your customers, instead of leaving them disappointed. They are going to remember that you made an exception for them and that you value them as a customer.

Some of it is just psychology. Many shoppers understand missing a sale. But if you buy something and then have to deal with knowing you paid more than everyone else, that doesn't usually garner the same understanding. Missing a sale is NOT the same as overpaying. Inaction =/= Action.

Again, I don't think Springfield has any obligation to honor the promotion to previous purchasers. I'm just kind of dumbstruck by those acting like it's a completely foreign concept in business.

I got mine related to the two weapons bought during the promotion. I did purchase two xds just before August so I am out those free mags. Didn't think about asking for them to slide their date for me, but bought the gun not the extra mags.

I bought two cz 97s one from grabagun and the other from kentucky. 50 dollar difference give or take, but guess what? Kentucky didnt have it in stock until a few days later. Am I going to whine about the 50 dollars? No, as I got what I wanted and thats the end of it.

Yeah, I am trying to max out my SSEs and I'm booked through November so far. Also, since the TRP will still be on the roster, I'm not going to buy one this year.

And how is this is Springfield Armory's fault? I get hosed like this on almost everything I buy. I just chalk it up as my bad luck.

Seriously? Seriously? This is why firearms retail is so tough, biggest baby customers ever. Between gun sales, food, and security the biggest babies were in gun stores. So you didn't buy it in the time the promotion was running and it is Springfield's fault. Seriously!?!?!
