Rick is a great guy. I wish there were more people like him in this buisness.

He is very good people...but he runs a small business without a ton of cash flow.
Read the Private For Sale forum here...given the number of flakes and nuts I see in the classifieds, I don't blame Rick in the slightest.

Price on website + tax + DROS. He does not screw you over by charging extra for SSE.
If you have a gun shipped to him that you bought else where there is a charge.
If you can not get what you want from your local store it is worth the drive, he is a stand up guy.Comment

He has blocked the mags on the last 2 guns I have purchased.Comment

He meant stays at his distributor.... lol, because he doesn't have bankroll to actually stock it.Comment

I have purchased probably 20 guns there. I am also in the pistol a month club there. Speaking from personal experience, I don't think bankroll has anything to do with it. He has held guns for me for weeks without asking for a penny. I think more than likely, he wants a commitment from a brand new customer before he orders in a gun he doesn't have in stock, especially if it is an odd or not hot selling gun. No one is going to bring in a Mare's Leg from distribution for a brand new customer without asking for a deposit, for instance. We have no idea what OP was asking for.
Asking for half down is an easy way to eliminate tire kickers. This is likely SOP at any FFL. I have purchased guns from many popular CA FFLs large and small, and in every case to bring it in from wherever it was if it was not in stock, required a deposit and in many cases, payment in full.
All the guns I have gotten there have been flawless. I am super anal about finish and I have never rejected a gun from Placer Tactical.
IMO - you will be hard pressed to find a better FFL. PT is my go-to for everything.Comment

I have purchased 1 SSE gun from there (5 out of 5 stars for that experience) and I currently have my 2nd SSE from Rick jailed. I would there first for EVERYTHING except a PPT and that's only because it's a 40 minute drive for me. The thing I notice about Place Tactical is they seem to be able to get anything no matter how rare. Every time I visit the office there is a customer ahead of me getting something amazingly cool and rare...that's just how it seems to me at least. but then again I am a n00b.Comment

Ya, I don't know the shop, but that's good to hear..... the whole thing just sounded fishy..... I mean really, we're not talking about dealer trading for a $40,000 automobile here... so the half down business just to see a $600 handgun seems STUPID.I have purchased probably 20 guns there. Man you cant get anything these days special order without full payment. Cant even transfer a shirt from one nordstrom to the other without buying it. But what if the shirt has a mark on it!? Well then you have them send it back and get another. That is how special orders or non stocking dealers go. Lots of guys put down reservation payments on a rare cars and when that car comes they inspect it at that point.just happy to be here. I like talking about better ways to protect ourselves.
