Shops can charge whatever they want. I can choose not to support any shops that try to screw customers, now or in the future. Believe me, I have along memory.

Gunfighter Tactical on Miramar Rd. performs SSEs and can check distributors inventory. The have a lot of options. Give them a call, you can avoid SSE fees and transfer fees.

For off list anything ,PPT is the way to go. There are many reasons for that. . When I am looking for a used handgun or a rifle , I would much rather deal with a private seller.

While I see people trying to sell their Gen 4 Glocks or VP9's at a higher premium to make money on what they're buying now, I still see the majority of people saying "f-u" to them and not buying them up. Sure there are some who will pay a premium just to have it, but with this much lead-time before SSE ends, it's giving people lots of time to prepare.... unlike situations like Sandy Hook that happens out of the blue and flips the market upside quickly.

For those people who are flipping the guns, deep down inside they really don't want the gun and don't want to sit on it too long and eat into their cost recovery. They'll eventually drop the price low enough to meet a fair market value and possibly recoup what they put into the gun originally with little to no profit.

I don't think people are saying f-u to them necessarily. Most of the VP9s I've seen for "sale" are people who have them purchased un-DROS'd at the gun shop and you have to pay them for the privilege of buying it from the gun shop. This presents a problem for people like me who have no more slots for this year. I've yet to see a VP9 on actual PPT sale on the marketplace for any price. Maybe there have been but I look locally, not all over CA. I've seen plenty WTT (possible ppt) or for sale (un-dros'd).

That said, gouging is in the eye of the beholder I guess :-S If someone said to you that you can buy 2 more handguns this year with SSE, but you have to pay en extra $200 each for the ability to do so, would you do it? That's the way I'm looking at it. I bought a CZ P07 and P09 FDE for $700 each through PPT. They are $500 guns (very nice quality, but still the true price in the rest of the free world is about $500 each). But this made it so I had two more options before next year and they didn't use up my slots, which I didn't have anymore of anyways. Next year, hopefully the roster will be tossed, but if not, then you have to look on the extra price as just the cost of being here in an F'd up state.

You can predict it, but I doubt it will really happen :-) You may be right that there will be people asking $1k, but it actually happening is up for debate. Glock gen 4 is not that big of an upgrade to gen 3, other than some have more problems than gen 3, and they are plenty of them around. Brand new releases like the VP9, it's hard to say what a true sell through price will be. I don't foresee crazy high prices, but who knows when we get closer and people get desperate.

I'm not going to gouge because I'm not selling anything I'm buying. These will all be mine. We just don't have the luxury right now of just selling on a whim (being nitpicky for example about how a trigger feels) and then maybe getting another in the future. We don't know what the future holds.

Look there are people who are willing to pay more for the stuff they want, guns or other things in life. I guarantee you there will be people paying $1,000 for a Glock because they want the newest (and maybe the best) but I think the majority of the people will just go with a Gen 3 for half as much. This is just how it is being a gun owner in California so I'm not sure why people would complain about it.

Next year a lot of us would know the roster like the back of our hands

gouging is selling bottled water at a super premium during a natural disaster...selling a handgun at a super premium price; well if the price is too high for you, you just can't afford it...

no one is entitled to get a handgun that they desire at a low price...

All bottled water is a super premium. My gf won't drink tap water even tho we're directly at the source in tahoe and crystal geyser comes out of Modesto or something and is 6 bucks a crate that gets used in 2 days.
