If one aims to find a cheaper roster substitute, they can easily do it for pretty much any mainstream brand. If you want to get the exact model, well... you'll have to pay higher premium next year.Look there are people who are willing to pay more for the stuff they want, guns or other things in life. I guarantee you there will be people paying $1,000 for a Glock because they want the newest (and maybe the best) but I think the majority of the people will just go with a Gen 3 for half as much. This is just how it is being a gun owner in California so I'm not sure why people would complain about it.
Next year a lot of us would know the roster like the back of our handsComment

Exactly!
For me I can substitute a Glock Gen4 and M&P with a XD. I've shot a Springer Precision tuned XD40 and it's every bit as nice as a tuned Glock or M&P with Apex. On the other hand I can't really find a replacement for a commander sized 1911 in an alloy frame and bobtailed so I'm going to grab myself a DW Guardian (excuses and more excuses to buy guns...

Don't the Gen 3's go off roster Dec 31, 2014?
I think I recall seeing the G23 has that date, not sure about others.
Someone commented you can get Gen4 next year for less? How do you do that if SSE goes away?
Update: I could have sworn I saw 2014 when I checked a couple weeks ago for the end date on the G23. Now I see it says 2015 ???Last edited by letsgosteelers; 09-14-2014, 10:42 AM."If guns kill people, then pencils misspell words, cars make people drive drunk and spoons make people fat."Comment

Even with the demand of Gen4 Glocks that cant be added to the roster it will be unwise if they let the Gen3 fallout of the roster, unless production just can't support both generation.

I thought S&W & Glock are not recertifying their handguns that fall-off the roster for sale in CA due to the new requirements, ie. micro-stamp, etc.
Seriously, did Glock get an extension of some sort? I could have sworn I saw several 2014's dates on that list ?"If guns kill people, then pencils misspell words, cars make people drive drunk and spoons make people fat."Comment

Most of the people who will want vp9s or ppqs will have them by the end of the year. There will be an initial markup next year but that will die down as most who want, will have. Next year the roster will probably be overturned and in a couple years, after all the legal battles are over, there will be no roster to worry about. New shooters and old shooters will be able to buy whatever the heck they want.
Now if the roster doesn't get overturned then the guns with the real markups will be the new models that will come out in the years to come. The few that make it into the state through family transfer, transplants, and LEOs, will demand buco dinero.Do I look like I'm ready for homework?Comment

Some of us may take off roster gun ownership for granted because we are educated about the situation and have had plenty of time to get what we want. But there are new shooters entering the market every day and that will be true in 2015 and beyond. Couple that with more CCWs expected to be issued over the next few years, and you can bet there will be a large demand for off roster guns especially the smaller ones. Plus, many people just want what they can't get - for no other reason than that. That especially applies to firearms.
And the pistol roster is only getting smaller. Unless the roster is thrown out completely or some new miracle legal way of SSEing almost any semi auto appears, an off roster pistol is only going to appreciate in value. No one is going to find a $350 Gen 4 Glock in CA in the coming years, period. An $800 Glock 42, a $600 LCP, a $1200 Glock 41 - there will be buyers.Last edited by SkyHawk; 09-14-2014, 11:00 AM.Comment

Thread on the Glock topic. Glock re-upped the remaining Gen 3s to 2015
near the bottom of page one.
As long as Glock continues to manufacture the Gen 3s in Austria, doesn't change them & pays the DOJ on time they should be able to renew until they don't want to.Comment

Hoping sanity and justice will prevail. Most of the people who will want vp9s or ppqs will have them by the end of the year. The roster and microstamping are an obvious defacto ban based on attrition.Laws against murder and attempted murder should have been the only gun control laws ever needed in America...Comment
