Especially since so many of them would have preferred a 9mm to begin with. S&W went ahead and made a really nice single stack in 9 and 40, it is has been selling like hotcakes. Trying to play catch-up now would make them look like they made a poor marketing decision with the Glock 42. Which they did.

Glock fanboys will still pick up the 9mm in droves were it to be released.

Impossible to tell if people would of skipped the 42 for certain since the 9mm single stack glock is just an idea at the moment.

Yes. And how many people who have bought it would have rather had a 9mm in a similar size? How do you think all of those people buying it because it is the smallest Glock they can get will feel if Glock turns around and comes out with something the same size in 9mm? Do you think they might be a bit peeved? Add to that the view of the gun community as a whole. People have been hounding Glock to come out with a single-stack 9mm for decades. They chose to come out with a .380 as their CCW flagship instead. If they come out with a 9mm now, everybody is going to see that as a tacit admission that they F'd up by bringing the .380 out first. I don't care that lots of people are buying them now. That is great. But it doesn't negate the fact that they blew their shot at cornering the 9mm CCW market in one fell swoop. Aside from ticking off the people who bought the Glock 42 as a consolation prize, they will be waging an uphill battle against the Shield. A gun that I believe is selling even better than the Glock 42 at the moment.

Me too. I don't get how everyone thinks there will be so much hate to Glock? If they were both released at the same time I still would have bought a Glock 42 first because that was my focus.
Either you want it or you don't, no reason to get mad about it either way though, it's not that serious.

The thing about the 42 is it's a shooter. You can shoot the 42 all day long 10-12 yards no problem. You get some nice tight groups for such a small gun.

I'm not sure how snappy or pleasant a 9mm shield or Glock single stack is to shoot.

Why not just buy a cw9 kahr if you want a single stack Glock so bad?

I wouldn't call a Kahr a single stack Glock. Kahr trigger vs Glock trigger - not the same.

If true, that would be huge in my mind... given Glock's (once) dominance of polymer.

If the Shield is outselling the G42, kudos to S&W.
The uspsa surveys show that S&W is catching Glock in the competition segment as well.

CW9 shoots not much different than the Shield 9mm. I have both and like both for different reasons.

True to numbers or not, it is true that Glock does not totally dominate polymer pistols anymore.

And I can't help but think (without even knowing the Shield's true numbers) that one reason for that is the G42... I quite like my Shield, more than my G26 for obvious reasons!

LOL at what comes out of Lenny Magill's mouth

When other reputable sources start to hint or leak that a Glock single stack 9mm will be coming out, then I'll start to pay attention and listen. However, I wouldn't expect that to happen until later this year like maybe a month before SHOT 2015. However, unfortunately by then it'll be too late for most of CA to get one since SSE will be over. Unless you're LE or have a vertical relative living in another state to do an intrafamilial transfer (which is my ticket), or have some other method of DROS'ing one after Jan 1, you're probably SOL whenever one comes out.... until somebody decides to sell one in the Classifieds for an extorted CA used market price.

BTW, I used to have the non-CA Shield 9mm last year and shot it quite a bit. Great gun, but sold it and got a Glock 42 back in February when they first became available. I put a lot of rounds through that and it was also very fun to shoot and ultra reliable. However, I recently sold the G42 (and still have tons of .380 ammo) and picked up another non-CA Shield 9mm but this time without the external safety. I've been shooting that and enjoying that gun again and it does not make me miss the G42 at all.

While I still have a bunch of G42 parts and ammo laying around, I probably won't pick up another one.... at least not until after next Spring if or when a single stack 9mm Glock is announced. Just some food for thought.

LC9S is what I'll get if the Glock single stack 9mm doesn't come out before December.

What about a single stack 45 ACP?

I am thinking the G36 is comparable to the Colt Officers ACP so why not a Glock comparable to the Colt Commander?

I agree..they would be pissed, BUT they'll still buy.

And in the end that's all that matters.
