Unless they changed something SIG slides are machined out of stainless steel and not heat treated. So yes if you drop the heavy solid metal slide at just the right angle on a hard enough surface small points can be bent. Put the slide into a vise and drop a 8 oz. ball peen hammer from 3 feet up on the same spot and you will peen or bent it over. Send it to SIG and take the hit since even a SIG armorer would not be allowed to do that kind of repair without voiding the warranty (unless they replaced the slide).

Next time just take your time and don't rush things because that is when guns get damaged most of the time.

That is unfortunate, however, as stated above contact Sig and explain it to them, hopefully with any luck they will fix it for free, just keep maintain your composure, let us know what becomes of it as it will be helpful to others who may find themselves in the same predicament.

Good points. Stainless steel is softer than carbon steel if I recall correctly.

Wow this is a first for me. That sucks bro. I would send back to Sig for sure so it gets done properly.

He also gave me a significant discount on the Extreme G10 grips which makes me happy.

So lesson learned, i will be more careful, i am also satisfied with the customer service received.
Bummer, now I bet you wish you would have just tried to fix it yourself with the a hammer.

So, in theory you could get sights, a barrel, and a guide rod for 50-100 bucks? I'd get them and throw em in the parts drawer!

Just bend it back. If that breaks it or its not reliable then be glad it happened not in a gunfight.

Ive dropped Glocks before... every time I train damn near... in reality you wouldn't reholster an empty sidearm if your alone or your buddy runs dry too. Assuming you have a long gun, you just let go of the pistol and get the long gun running.

Granted, but Glock slides are either teniffer or nitride treated.....so they're pretty hard

When I was cleaning my wife's MK25, dropped the slide on the tile floor about 3 feet high and chipped the corner part of the rear slide. She was outside watering plants when it happened.

I didn't tell her about it and she never notice the chip. As long as she's hitting the target and her gun was cleaned & lubed, I'm safe.
