If I recall older sig slides are rolled sheet steel and then heat treated. Both my older sig 226 and 228 are like that. The new ones are machined from solid stainless bar stock. Is the 224 using the older method of manufacturing?

        My advice:
Sent them a check for $200 and buy the confidence of a properly functioning gun. Then take that $200 hole in your wallet to remind you that in the future, whenever you are interrupted, be extra careful about what you were doing before the interruption. Think of it as cheap tuition to the college of practical knowledge.

I hear this stuff constantly when reloaders do things like inadvertently pouring the wrong powder back into the bottle, forgetting to charge a cartridge or at the very least making a mess of things when they are distracted by interruptions.

OK... I haven't watched all of Jet Li's movies. I would ask you more info but that's thread jacking. Maybe we can start another thread of movie highlights involving unique gun handling and shoot outs.

On topic: that slide is beveled on the edges so squeezing straight will require some type of jig. You can get a gunsmith to hammer it back in place but it will marr up the finish. Is the other side bent too?

Send it to Sig and they'll just replace that slide.

At least they could fix it. Beretta cannot even replace my 92FS frame when its rails cracked.

New frame = new gun per CA law (DROS, waiting period etc. and drama if not on Roster).

Colt replaced a frame under warranty for me once and was able to stamp the new frame with the same serial number....is that no longer possible??

He also gave me a significant discount on the Extreme G10 grips which makes me happy.

So lesson learned, i will be more careful, i am also satisfied with the customer service received.

Good for you edraque. It's a great gun and you are now good to go.

I bet you now feel like a million bucks (minus $200)

Sig won't do it. I had this exact issue and had to Dros a replacent pistol from them in May. And the new one had to be CA compliant (LCI and mag disconnect) They wouldn't send an off roster pistol to my ffl even to do an SSE on it. After fighting them for a few weeks, I finally just said screw it, and ended up selling my now neutered dream gun.

I would have just tapped it back slowly with a hammer and punch. Or used a padded vise if the thing fit the jaws.

If you fail, so what? You'd have to get a replacement slide anyways.
