in truth its just that they're 10 rounders and the mag design is altered.

instead of a true double stack, or cutting the magazine down and using huge floor plates, they just rib the standard mag body to displace the stagger to only allow 10 rounds.

    i think that's the problem.
This would be my guess too. Also doesn't hurt to run a couple hundred 124 or 147gr ammo first, then switch back to your PMC. I'll bet it will run fine after the the new followers and a little heavy ammo.

I recently gave my daughter a g17 for graduating college and she has so far fired 200 flawless rounds through it. 100 rounds of Winchester 124gr FMJ Ranger and 100 rounds of Wolf 115 grain FMJ. No issues at all, I will check tomorrow to see what followers her mags have.

        Glock 17, 10rd mag problems?

I owned two g17's with lots of 10 round mags and did not have any issue.

BUT I shot them with hotter ammo when they were new to break in the stiff springs. After about two boxes of 124gr ammo, I fed them with cheap reloads and they still functioned flawlessly.

You tried your Glock the second time with less jams right? Take it out again and use hotter ammo, I betcha the jam will go away.

It's probably because of the 10 round magazines. Despite upgrading from the 2183 follow to the 9mm3 follower, the reduced capacity magazines have a whole host of issues for malfunctions.

          From another forum:

I have been involved in two tests of Glock reduced capacity 10 rd G17/G19 mags using both the stock #2183-2 follower, as well as the Glock OEM #3 follower. In both cases the reduced capacity magazines did NOT prove reliable and had significantly higher malfunction rates than the standard capacity OEM Glock 17 & 15 rd magazines used as controls.

Perhaps that is why at my recent Glock Armorer re-certification class the Glock trainer specifically stated to NEVER use Glock 10 rd reduced capacity magazines for LE duty use, as they were not considered reliable enough...

I had the same problem with a G19 Gen 2 with those 2xxx followers

                Guarantee that is the problem.

I can tell you my 1990s era standard cap G19 mags work great.

Right on guys. Thank you. Will be asking Glock for new followers. Would the followers be causing the slide to have slight resistance going forward all the way? I noticed one or twice that the slide wouldn't fully seat forward and I'd have to give it a slight push.

                        Try 9mm3 followers.

If that doesn't work, then contact Glock and see what they say.

                          Negative.

Have you tried other ammos than the PMC FMJ 115gr?

Don't ask me how I know... yet I have a feeling that if you try some 'hotter' HD loads on your brand new Gen3 Glock, it might work just fine. (For example, Gold Dot 124g JHP, Hornady Critical Duty 135g JHP, Golden Saber 124g JHP.)

Unfortunately, having standard capacity magazines seems to be one of the most reliable suggestions.

Not yet. I couldn't afford to use HPs for practice though every time I went to the range
