Voted XDs9mm, only because I just DROSed one as an SSE impulse buy. I plan to shoot it side by side with my daughter in laws Shield 9mm. If i prefer the XDS, great, i'm set. If i prefer the Shield I'll SSE one, if I cant get one in time i'll simply get the CA version. if needed I'm sure I'll have no problem selling the XDs come 2015

My vote goes to the Shield. I've held both but only shot the Shield. The XDs just didn't feel right in my hand for some reason.

This for sure. That's why I dumped my XDs on order and went with the Shield9 when I had a chance.

I have seen several evaluations between the Shield, the XD and Glocks.. and every reviewer agrees that all 3 are excellent pistols.. and most reviewers feel that the trigger on the Shield is better...

300 rnds thru mine and I like it more every time I shoot it!

I've carried both pretty extensively, and while they are both fantastic and reliable weapons that are still interchangeable for my everyday, one thing made the XDS (9mm) stand out: it's mechanical design. The upper on the XDS is super quick to tear down to its bare bones - all springs, retaining pins, everything. It was also easier to remove the trigger housing. And the rear sight on the Shield is insanely tight. Also, spare parts availability - if you happen to lose the tiny, tiny sear spring cap in the shield, for instance, you'll have a weapon that is out of commission since there aren't spares readily available... At least, I waited a couple of months.

The XDS feels chunkier as it's grip isn't as rounded as the shield - personal choice there. I disliked the stock triggers in both guns. The shield has an apex kit and the XDS was replace as well.

Both have so rarely failed to go bang that I'm amazed. They're more reliable than some much more expensive options and I'd trust my life to either. And do, often!

Just one persons experiences - good luck!

My no ts shield has a positive reset.

The group on the head in the attached target is my first 35 shots with my 9mm no ts shield at 10 yards (The very first time I shot it ).

The shots on the right shoulder area is my buddy trying to shoot the nametag on the target with a vp9.

                      Thank you!

Depends on the full sized 9mm and how focused/mentally on I am that day.

On good days with a ppq, button sized dots (the smallest shootnsee all black dots) take about 1 to 3 shots each at 10 yards.

With a ppq or vp9 I can do the same groups at 15 easily (as the shield pic I posted) but at 25 while they are all in the head, there are a lot more fliers (eg forehead and jaw). With my sig p210 off hand the groups are pretty fantastic

If you already have a 938, I'd just get another in a different finish. For vice why confuse yourself with more than on gun? What if, in the heat of the moment you need to draw on someone... do you want that split second of remembering which gun you are carrying?

Forget about stopping power. If you can't hit it, you can't stop it.

one thing to consider if you are a lefty is the mag release on the shield is NOT ambidextrous unlike on the xD or reversible on a g26

What about a regular XD? Are they inferior to the guns mentioned here? I'm looking for a nice little pocket carry for the day that CC county get's their collective heads out of their *****es
