    XDS 9mm vs Shield 9mm?

Hey guys I have a ccw.. right now I carry my sig p938... i ve got the itch to get a new ccw pistol. The Sig p938 is amazing but like probably a lot of us one ccw pistol isnt enough

My question is what would you get? The XDS 9mm (maybe the 45) or the shield 9mm or ... just stick with the 938?

I think both are excellent and very similar in size and capacity that it's a wash for comparison. You won't go wrong with either.

I would go to LGS and hold and grip the two. Which ever feels a little bit better is your winner.

Both are comfortable to carry and shoot. I prefer the shield trigger to the xd, but just barely. The break and reset is very clean and distinct. Since you're used to a safety on the 938 (assuming you carry cocked and locked) the shield also having a safety would be an easy transition.

I prefer the shield but you should fire both and see which you prefer. Both are good options if you want 9mm. If you want a different caliber like .40 or .45 then the choice is much easier.

I considered both but the Shield just felt so great in my hand that the decision was made. Although looks shouldn't matter, I also find the Shield and the whole M&P line to be really sharp looking. If I could get a 9c I would.

I have a P938, a Shield and a G26. I voted for the Shield in your poll only because you already have a P938. I only have a couple hundred rounds through my 938 but I think I shoot it better than my Shield. That said I'll probably carry all three in different situations. The 938 for pocket carry in the summer and the Shield IWB with heaver clothes.

Doesn't matter which one. What it boils down to is which you are more naturally proficient. Sure you can practice to turn training into nature. But, assuming you are not LE, you are not being paid to practice with hundreds and hundreds of rounds at no cost to you. Do you have time and money to practice to the point of natural proficiency? In that context, it simply makes more sense to carry the one you are naturally proficient with and build on that with the occasional practice.

If you don't have money burning a hole in your pocket, and you are a good shot with the P938, there is no sound reason to not keep carrying it.

The differences between the XDS and Shield are mostly cosmetic, price and the extras you get for paying more on the XDS:
              - fiber optic front sight vs simple iron with dot
              - hard case vs cardboard box
              - holster and mag carrier vs none

If the Shield had all those things included, it would probably cost the same as the XDS. Functionally, they are both essentially the same: Click. Bang.

Lastly, the Shield has no noticeable trigger reset. If noticeable reset is what you prefer, then the Shield is not for you.

^^ it's nice having those accessories included without going out and buying them.

Went with the XDS and couldn't be happier. Owned both the 45 and the 9. Had to sell the 45 to fund a project but that's a great option also.

The Shields price point is excellent and thats probably why more people gravitate towards them but you do have to factor in the extras that come with the XDS.

Both are excellent carry guns and you can't go wrong with either one.

Yes and no. There are aftermarket holsters that are far nicer than the factory one and cost no more. The single deciding factor should be which you can shoot better with naturally. Convenient having an all-in-one-box package. But, none of that means anything if you can't put rounds on target right off the bat and require significant amount of practice (more $$$).

The shield comes with 2 mags. The reset on my Shield is also pretty noticeable.

My bad, it does come with 2 of different capacities. The CA Shield I fondled had no noticeable reset.
